Love the build. Floor gives me more to think about. Was planning on coating mine, but the clear VOC over the bare concrete looks great.

Of all the things in my shop the floor has been the most difficult decide.

Looking good!
Really like the floor decals.
You must have found a good deal on that insulation to go through all the work seaming it together.

I got it through the bid room at homedepot, it was the cheapest, but probably the most work too.. I got the time and probably saved 250, so went that route, was a lot of work though, about 30 mins each section.

One day you will be glad you have 33 outlets, you can never have enough of them however I feel your pain right now ;)

Went from a garage with only 6 outlets, so I went a lil crazy, but I didn't really figure out a layout before hand so this ensures I have them where ever I put something.

Yeah me too, I kicked around the staining idea first, then epoxy, then said stop over thinking, this shop is to be used not a pretty show room. So went with this, I am happy and it will be easy to recoat in a couple years, I still have one more thing to do it..

Got one entire upper wall done this afternoon after work, it went surprisingly easily. 3 hours total, didn't even mess up one outlet or cut. really happy and even dragged the wife out to help.

Just marked two spots, then set an outlet box on it to trace and zipped it out.

Shop looks great. I like the t1-11 inside. I'm not a metal building guy at all, but I've had many metal roofs. I had a carport once that had no vapor barrier under the metal and it would quite often rain under the carport from condensation. Hope you won't have that issue.

Got back at it tonight, got all the peg board up and started the upper T11 before calling it a night, the oldman came over to give an extra help.

I am going to paint them a dark gray, then the upper boards will be light gray to help reflect some light.

I'd consider using white (semi-gloss) instead of the light gray. Believe it of not, it will reflect more light. Your EZ is fairly light right now, probably comparable to a light gray and look how much brighter the pegboard is.

Just something to consider.

I liked the look of the cladding that you were using for lining the inside walls, but I did think that it was steel or aluminum (which wouldn't be my choice for that application) - I didn't want to say anything negative, so I said nothing.

I can now see in the close-up pics above (of the switch cut-outs) that it's PVC or something similar, which not only looks good, but is a very suitable choice - I should never have doubted your judgement ph1g.

I don't think that we have any similar product here (which is a real shame), what is it made of?

Now that you have my full approval again, you may proceed.

I always wonder what the guys on GJ tell their SO when they take a picture of them working ? smile you're gonna end up on my GJ build thread anyway? Or do you go with the classic "let me take a picture of you while you're working, you never know if it's ever gonna happen again"

kidding aside, great looking build! and way to showoff that deer tractor too!

I have read this whole thread a few times. I was stuck on a 40x40 for the longest. But decided on a 40x48x16 because I wanted to put a room across the back wall with a loft and still have 32ft of shop space. MY materials get delivered in about 2 weeks. I spend every free minute I have reading up here as I am building it myself with the help of my FIL who has knowledge in it. Lots of good information and here I think I may pick up two more poles for my back wall that is 10ft apart.

Came home 2 days early from the cottage because of bad weather and I was able to bang out a ton more. Finished up the panels, painted like a mad man and put up some electrical covers. Next up some trim and start moving stuff in.

Finished up the last piece of paneling..
IMG_4513.jpg

Close up of my electrical box, its sits slightly behind the finished wall height, so i just framed it in with 1x1 pine. Poor planning, but came out ok.
IMG_9675.jpg

Painted the peg board, which was the stupidest thing I ever did as the paint doesn't stick at all, thinking about lightly sanding it all off and trying again after the surface is roughed up, what a bone head move.

I would run them 8' if I could do it again, just gives you extra strength for finishing if you are going to do it like I did with girts inside. But even at 8' (or 7'6") I still found that adding the extra stiffener in between really helped strengthen the wall. Really depends how you are going to finish the inside..

Got it. Something I am going to look into for sure.

Just got some good new, fingers crossed, my cousin works for the town, had me come up to sign a release for asphalt millings. So I need to get my **** out there digging a drive way to the shop. Coming close to the end of the season and they have a surplus so might score some for free..

In total I got roughly 70-85 tons.. Took us from 11am-5pm to get the ground dug and all the millings moved in. Ground was rough digging, hard as a rock. I am about 70% to where I need to be now and really happy with the free start.. The entire driveway is 4"-6" thick, up near the shop its 8" thick, I might finish digging the rest tmrw and just spread it thinner the entire way and then top with 1" crusher, not sure yet..

Starting to dig..

I was actually just talking to a friend about this yesterday, as he did almost the identical shop and drive way, he did number 2 crusher. When we walk on his it feels more compact than mine, yet if you drag your feet on it it still pretty loose.

I am over all really really happy with it, its compacted well and I feel it will hold up well. Plus I got it all for free!! In total they dropped off 170-190 tons of it, being i was only 5 miles from the site, they ran the trucks heavy 23-25 tons in each load. I'd say I have it about 6-8" thick every where and in some places more.

I get a little dragged in when I pull a vehicle in or out but nothing that really bothers me and nothing more than a stone driveway would do..

Any new updates lately. How much ceiling insulation did you blow in? (thickness). How has the temp been in there judging from this past winter?

Tons of updates, shop is setup..

Did 8-10 inches in the ceiling and installed a 75,000 btu tube heater I picked up on craigslist. with out the heater the shop stayed around 30 degrees it seemed but held the cold in as well. With the heater, keep it set at 40 and it takes about 30-45 minutes to heat it up to 55. Even on the -10 days we had this year it was toasty in there.

I'll have to get some pictures of the heater and some other new adds.

Today I picked up a free lil cabinet!

Got my first Actual meter read bill today, first one was estimated, Jan was 58 bucks and Feb was 69 bucks. I kept the shop at 41 degrees all the time only cranking it up when i was out working which was pretty much every weekend and couple times a week.

So for heat for the two coldest months i can remember in a long long time it only cost me 130 bucks in NG. I can't complain about that, love my radiant tube heater it ROCKS. Anyone on the fence if your insulated well, you can't beat it.
