Thinking about adding heat to the shop

(2) 16 foot uninsulated doors
(1) 10 foot "" door

Walls and ceiling are R-19, 18' to the trusses

The building isn't super tight, there are leaks around the doors

What do you guys think?

Miami or Alaska? Need to put your location (at least your state) in your profile.

What kind of temps do you want to see inside, and how cold does it normally get where you are located?

With an 18 ft ceiling, expect to need some ceiling fans to make it work.

Electric, LP or Natural gas?

Hmmm, weird. It used to say Seattle

But ya, Seattle. I'd like a 20* increase

Oil

I was under the impression temperature increase is pretty linear and not dependent on base temperature. And doesn't efficiency have a lot more to do with it than what I'm using to heat? BTUs are BTUs correct?

Go to slantfin.com and they have a heat loss calculator you can use.

Assuming 10ft tall doors (need door area...) and an uninsulated slab?... The calculator says you need about 50,000 btu to get 65 with it 45 outside.
