Shop has had concrete for about a month now. In that time we have hung the doors, installed all the lights and ran power and have been slowly getting moved in. I ended up fixing the part that was hit with the tractor. I am loving it so far!

Nice build.

I'm in Smithville and thinking of something similar.

How are the temps in this heat?

We are using the shop for the start of our home gym. It's amazing how fast you can drop a couple thousand on weights and equipment but so far everyday I've been home my wife and I have spent about 2 hrs getting the swell on.

Definitely glad we went with the size we did and started looking at getting a 2 post lift! Gotta get off the ground!

Are you putting insulation on the walls? Be amazed at how long it stays cool with the doors closed. Any thing on the ceiling?

I have some foil insulation in my conex but it really isn't bad in there to justify the work right now. Keeping heat in during winter might be a bigger reason to do something. We do have the roof insulated. The trusses are exposed, nothing for the ceiling. With the 30" fan we got its working out great.

Tried to pick up a cable machine but it sold before I got there

A large fan with doors open on the front and back will work for a couple months with the temps cooling down. It was actually tolerable in my garage yesterday with the rains. Should be good for the next couple of months. I love the fall and spring in North Texas. Your winters are fairly mild there right? I'd think it would still be a good add and would help it from building heat in the summer.

My building was completed June 30th or close and the way it's situated, the morning sun hits the front gable extension and then the rest of the sun hammers the roof the rest of the day. The walls that are exposed have the lean-to covering them. Depending how things go, I might frame it out and insulate or foam it but I would only foam if I knew I was going to install a/c and I don't see that happening! One thing we did was have atleast one door on every side and the air flow is great!

Not looking forward to love bugs or pine pollen...that'll be when I'm wanting A/C. For my occupation, it's beneficial to spend as much time outside sweating as possible. My wife will tell you I sweat everyday of my life.

Looks good Brett............

Thanks...my wife had just finished bench when I took that pic. Don't judge me for the baby weight!

We have a 12kw welder/generator that we use for power when storms come thru. We were having to back feed into the 30amp dryer plug which was no fun and not giving us the power we had available. So...we installed this 50amp plug in the shop that'll feed the main panel in the house. Turn off the main, start generator and flip the 50 amp breaker and were in business. I bought 6/3 thinking it was like Romex and would be 4 strand, whoops. That's why there a neutral outside the main wire. I'll have to get some 6/4 soon but it'll work for now

anymore updates? got any suggestions on what builders to use?

Lickily our builder went out of business. They were terrible people. The barn has turned into a shop. Decided to open a Jeep shop doing high end JL builds and have bought and installed

2 post 10k lift
4 post 15k lift
Hunter alignment machine
Ranger tire machine and balancer
Bigger compressor

Lots more to come. Limit it at 3-5 builds per month. Ended up lining the bottom 8’ with more insulation and painted osb

After 3 and a half years I’ve had enough of the rocks. We’re having approx 4000 sq ft of concrete poured all under the covered areas of the shop and also a 15x20 pad for me to frame out an office, it’ll also have a driveway. Excited to be able to keep the shop clean!

Got a quote on having the shop and garage done with polyurea flooring. Knew it would be expensive but came to a little over 16k. Now I’m looking at doing it myself. Called two forum vendors and one hasn’t called me back yet. Hopefully I can get something worked out and get this project knocked out

Yeah, I looked into polyurea and the materials I found for the good stuff is at least half the cost of having somebody do it for me, so I decided to be lazy and let them. Plus they already own the grinders and other gear to do it right so I don't have to rent it.
