My dreams of having a large metal building have been almost crushed... I can't come up with the coin to pay someone to erect it for me.

So I am considering doing it myself with the help of my brother for one week.

Any tips? think it can be done in a week?

Also, I know this gets covered a lot but what can I expect for concrete in central florida? I have been getting quotes all over the place.

Is a footer needed?

I'm looking at Strat-o-span building, any feedback?

Thank you you all!

I built a 40X60X16 in 2009 in Oxford, FL, near the Villages. A local architect drew up the foundation plans for $400 (wind loads cause the post areas to be huge), T & D concrete did the monolithic slab for $11,400 including loads of fill dirt and all the anchor bolts. The slab was 6" with several areas thickened to 1 foot for where I put the lift. I got a "guy" that had put together a bunch of airplane hangers in Apopka to assemble the building for me. He was a crew of three; him, wife and son. He also walked me through the foundation including plumbing and electrical in the slab. He caught the one mistake by T&D that would have put one columns bolts off by a foot (apparently this is not uncommon in metal buildings and is fixable just inconvenient.). I rented a Lull (big offroad forklift) for a week and also had a large scissor lift that I bought on ebay. While I think I was capable of completing every step in building my garage individually, without the experienced person working on it, I would still be working on it.....
