Made a little progress. Footing for wall. Pilings for posts for mezzanine.

Fly back to work tomorrow. Try and get more done, next set of days off.

Worked a ton of ot the last month so didnt get a chance to do a lot. But the last couple days ive made a little progress.

Got the drainage in for a bathroom. Sized for a 48inch shower, toilet then vanity.

The icf isnt quite ready for concrete but close.

Been a busy week. Levelled the floor, poly, insulation and today we laud down 2500ft of pex for yhe infloor heat. Tomorrow we will put in extra foam staples then start on rebar.

Had a good day today. Guys started pouring at 8am, trucks were gone by 1030. 2 guys stayed and finished the floor all afternoon. 2 guys will come back tomorrow to saw cut and take forms away.

Got a couple things brought into the shop.

Going to start working on the divider wall inside to sit on the icf row.

Started standing the interior wall sections to separate the future heated bay from the cold side. Hoping to get some temp power in later this week.

Got the trench dug last night only to find out the wholesaler shorted me 30ft of wire.

Electrician said he brought a new length of wire today and got temp power in the shop.

Working on the mezzanine. 1 board short, back to the lumber yard tomorrow.

14x24 feet. 2x12 spruce, with 2x 1 3/4x11 7/8 lvl.

Way overkill. But itll hold anything i can put up there.

Got the floor sheeted today, monday ill get started on some stairs. Going to build a 10x14 room and a 14x14 lounge area up on the mezzanine.

Made a little progress on days off. 1 room is 10x14, that im hoping to get insulated soon so i have a warm room for having a break while working this winter. Going to have a window that will look down into the shop area from the other room up there. And a door at the top of the stairs.

Insulation for the shop showed up.

And the crews started on the house finally after we postponed the house for years

Zero progress on the inside of the shop, but the house is coming along nicely. Also got most of my water lines dug in.

Got most of the wiring done. Onto insulation before it gets too cold.

Nice to see the progress on your project. Are you planning on having the house buttoned up before the depth of winter strikes up there? Sometimes it really helps to remember, delayed satisfaction is still satisfying!!

Ya the house is progressing nicely. Should be done by late december.

Spent a little bit of time working on he solar collector area.

Got it framed out and insulation installed, made a jig to make my own heat transfer plates.

Got the walls mostly insulated, tin crew installed the ceiling tin, got the next stage of the solar collector up.

Wow, impressive build(s)! Funny how the perspective changes depending on the view location and level of completion. With just the stem walls and your truck, it looked like a nice-sized 3-car garage. Once the building was enclosed, it looked huge. Will be very curious as to how effective that solar collector is. I like the Rockwool and the ceiling tin. What was the price comparison of drywall vs. metal for the ceiling?

Not sure on price conparison as i would never do drywall in a shop. But I think its quite abit less, especially not having to mud tape sand and paint

So your home is ICF and the garage is wood?
Did you consider doing the garage with ICF?

Why would you never consider drywall a shop? Myself I'm at a point where the garage needs to be finished on the inside, tape mudded and painted.

BUT I really like the metal on the ceiling and walls inside, gives it a nice look, shouldn't be hard to cleanup too, and if you need to fix, repair something not an issue. Think I will copy that on my garage, hope the cost isn't stupid.

What's your goal with the plywood on the lower part? VS metal all the way down. I need to see if my city will allow that AKA fire issues.

Id stay away from drywall just cause it damages easily. And i dont know how to mud and tape.

The reason for the plywood on the bottom was simply cause i wasnt smart enough to hit every electrical outlet inbetween the ribs of the tin.

I personally wouldnt do icf either. Kinda tough to poke a hole through 6" of concrete if you decide you want an electrical outlet outside later on. Or an exhaust fan etc...

How’s the solar working?

It currently has a shade tarp over it. Ill pull it off next month. But last winter it worked fantastic
