In the process of adding ceiling and insulating pole barn ceiling. Trusses are 4' on center with purlins and tyvek wrap under roof metal. full ridge and soffit vents. Plan is to install 6 mill vapor barrier on bottom truss cords then wrap in white metal 33ft sections. As far as insulation I have faced R-30. I had an issue with inside roof sweating during extreme temp changes. Should this do the trick??

On my pole barn i have no material under the roof metal. 15mil vapor barrier stapled to the bottom of the trussed white metal attached over the vapor barrier. Mine still sweated till i sealed the gaps between the post and header. I used a spray foam kit to seal those areas. Nice and dry now.

Going the long way, 64/2 =32 plus a foot ovf overlap. Got to do that since the trusses are 4 foot on center the short way. Yikes!

My 30x60 barn has truss spacing of 12 feet and I put in joists at 2 foot centers so that I can run the metal ceiling panels the short way. Be very careful of the metal kinking and falling with such long lengths. Gotta tell you, I'd be looking at 21 footers max (64/3).

Sorry for jumping in on the thread... new member here... I just completed a 36' X 46' barn and I am looking for ceiling ideas. My problem is the ceiling is 17' and the tallest wallboard hoist I have come across is 15'. So I am looking for light weight ceilding coverings. What are these metal ceiling panels you are talking about? Like steel decking?

Herein my neck of the woods, they are called 'ceiling liner panels'. 29 ga., usually white painted metal. About....let me look....I paid $1.59 a running foot. The panels are 3 foot wide. I paid $1050 for 660 linear feet, at 3 foot wide, to cover my 1800 sq. ft. shop. "j" channel and screws extra. I am in the process of installing it now. Once it is screwed down....or up.....it's done. No sanding, taping, primer, paint. Love it.

The $1.59 price was delivered and 'no' I didn't drive to Tenn! I'm in Ohio. The company, Bernard Daniels Lumber, are about 4 miles from me. This was from a small retail lumber/hardware/paint etc. company. I try to support the local little business guy. I did a total build from this company.....I had them give me a bid on both material and labor....they have their own build crew.....very happy with the shop. I then went back and bought my interior paneling and metal ceiling liner.
