So far so good, sort of. Excavation is done and the framing arrived yesterday...now to find a new crew.

No mystery, I need to find a new crew to do the framing. Our credit union took a month longer than they should have for the construction loan which in turn screwed up the schedule of everyone involved that I am in search of a builder who isn't swamped. Not an easy task it seems, interviewing a potential builder this Saturday who says he is only a week out. Wish me luck!

Holes are finally in the ground and we should be setting poles by Thursday. Did not want to be building this time of year but after all of the delays we have experienced I am just glad to be moving forward. Was hoping to have the wood boiler up and running by now as my current shop will be running off the same system. Luckily we haven't had that cold of weather yet.

My first project in the new building is a 1965 Wildcat 13' travel trailer restoration. It's patiently waiting on the sidelines.

We have forward progress, now to stop the rain and get the roof decking on so I can prep the floor for foam, pex and utilities! Sure wish I could turn the clock back a month:willy_nil

Progress! We even have the wood boiler going heating the welding shop, wishing it was heating the RV as it's colder than the shop:sad:

This coming week we will be having the spray foam in and the steel up on the ceiling then a week delay before the overhead doors get here. Sure wish this frigid weather could have held off a couple more weeks as we are going to have to move from the RV before we ruin it with the condensation.

That last picture is puzzling. Are you heating the RV with wood?

It does appear that way, however the MH is sitting on a concrete pad along with the boiler, only connection. The MH will be moving indoors once the new building is heated, by the same boiler that is currently heating the welding shop. So in other words the MH is just the monkey in the middle. The 20x24 pad will be the permanent home for the boiler and will be roofed over to also accommodate the fuel.

I can say if we could figure a way to use the boiler now to heat it we would, it would be much warmer inside as this am saw the mercury dip to 3 degrees above zero.

Which is why even though I grew up near you (in Saginaw), I now live in Texas.

I'm guessing the hay bales are just to keep the cool breeze out from under the RV? That boiler is certainly a handy item to have. Much cheaper to run than the propane and natural gas heaters I used to use...

If it wasn't for those hay bales we have been in a motel room until we can get this build finished. We awoke to a 3 degree morning a few days ago and nothing froze water system wise. We also have a heater in the water compartment that would be useless if the cold were able to circulate underneath. These last few days in the 50's have been wonderful :rocker:

Motorhome in by Wednesday if all goes as planned:bounce:

Building looks great!
So, are you living in your RV?

Occasionally we do live in it, right now we are until this build is finished inside. It will have some accommodations such as a bathroom and kitchenette for our business. Summers we spend a lot of time camping in it and more than likely even taking winter time trips now that we will not have to winterize it and put it away. :rocker:

City water way out here in the woods, and it now flows inside! Really excited about that too, we have been hauling water for a year and a half in a 55 gallon drum.

Interior is coming along! Today we are laying down the decking on the 2nd level. Then decision time on what we are using to side this portion and just exactly what we will use on the inside walls. Blank canvases can be trouble:willy_nil

Recent progress between paying jobs. Applied some Airstone and started cedar siding on the kitchen wall that faces out into the shop. Got a light hung over the utility sink. And built a base (aluminum Moroso underdrive pulley) and wired up the light in the shop bathroom, used an Edison bulb and it looks sweet when it's on!
