What a beautiful shop! Looks like your contractor is doing a fine job.
I am trying to get started on a similar building, but am blown away with the costs. Here in West Tennessee not only is it hard to find a contractor, but the costs are now ranging from $60-75 a sq ft. That is for a 50x32 , insulated and electrical.

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I too was surprised by the cost of construction. When the trusses were dropped off I was handed an invoice, almost 17K alone. 12K in bricks. So, materials are expensive. I am running about $75.00 per square foot of floor space in this build. I wanted a larger building, ultimately budget drives everything.

A couple of updates. Drywallers finished last week. They did a nice job. I will prime and paint myself, and also do the trim work. I have a 1/0 AWG cable in a ditch from the house to the garage. Have been busy filling the 2' deep ditch by hand as we have had over 7" of rain here just in February alone, I didn't want a machine tearing up my yard more, so I've been getting my exercise. Waiting on a custom order of garage doors with high lift tracks to follow the ceiling contour.

I ran into this problem as well when trying to build a house in the summer/fall of 2018, just 2-3 years prior I could have a custom home built on my land for ~$80/sqft. and that ballooned in about two years to closer to $120/sqft. We ended up buying a used house but still have the land so the dream is not yet squashed.

469: great looking garage.

hand shoveling might not be the easiest or fastest, but cheaper and good exercise AND sounds like you won't have as much grass or area to repair later.

did you decide on what kind of lift yet?

drivesit, I believe I will be buying a 4 post. It will allow some storage options for vehicles and still allow me to handle service on the car. I built the cars I have on a set of jackstands and creeper, so any lift should be a huge improvement.
I painted the whole undercarriage of this 1970 Roadrunner on my back. Where there is a will.....
