This is the kit to get if you're not ready to spend the money on the 20v li-ion items. This kit has the XRP ni-cad batteries. All of the tools work with the 18v li-ion batteries. The ni-cad charger (black) charges only ni-cads, but the li-ion charger (yellow) will charge both ni-cad and li-ion batteries.

  • DCD950 XRP 18-volt cordless hammerdrill with patented 3-speed all-metal transmission delivers up to 450 units watts out
  • DC390 XRP 18-volt circular saw with 6-1/2-inch carbide blade can cut 2-by-4s at a 45 degree angle in a single pass
  • DC385 XRP 18-volt cordless reciprocating saw with keyless blade clamp allows for quick blade changes
  • DC825 18-volt impact driver with 1,330 inch-pounds of maximum torque
  • DC411 18-volt cut-off tool with 6,500 rpm provides high power for cutting and grinding applications
  • DW919 18-volt flexible floodlight provides hands-free use

$424 at Amazon, free shipping. Tax in states where Amazon has a warehouse.

this is eligible for the $25 off $100, so it comes out to $399+ tax. these tools are also compatible with the 18v li-ion batteries and the charger in this set will charge them. only thing is the 18v li-ion are getting hard to find. the 18v XRP nicad batteries are really good too if you don't mind the weight.

Well, I pulled the trigger on this. It just gives too much capability, and I really have nothing comparable to any of the tools provided except for the impact driver.

I have the same kit plus I added a bare right angle drill. Those flash lights are annoying. They're only good when you have something to hang it on. If it's just sitting on something flat, it's hard to point it where you want without it falling over and it's weird to use as a regular light to carry around.

I think the other bare tool flashlight from Dewalt is really cheap so it would be best to have both kinds of light. One for tight spaces and one for usual flashlight duties if you don't have another flashlight that you normally use.

I freak'n love that flashlight!!! It's the DC919 model and I wish Dewalt didn't discontinue the design (their new 20V line doesn't have anything like it anymore)... with the NiCd batteries, it's heavy enough to keep the base stable so no problems adjusting it that way. it's great for hanging, holding it like a lantern, or wrapping it around something. I've never seen any other design that's been this versatile. I loved it so much I bought two of them. Also, there's a dude on Ebay that sells LED replacement bulb that makes this thing run on the battery for 10 hours straight and is super bright. (I've posted it somewhere else, search for details if you're interested)

All the other tools are great also, but the hammer drill function isn't so great; i had a really hard time drilling into concrete with it. then i switched to my neighbor's heavier duty hammer drill using the same masonary bit and it was night and day difference. but as a regular drill, it works great.
