So I had started with a plan to build a steel building but things just couldn’t come together so I regrouped, found a contractor and now beginning stages of process for a post frame with awning. It’s a little smaller than I initially wanted but really can’t complain. Just beginning the permit process now.

Let me tell you about some frustration in this county. I’ve got 5 acres with an existing home. You would think finding room for a 2300 square foot shop would be now problem. Turns out I have wetlands (yeah wet in the winter when it rains 100”). Summer time this lower area is bone dry. No fish, waterfowl, or anything other than the same trees and vegetation the rest of the property has.

So that drove me to hire a wetlands specialist to do an assessment $$$. Then I had to hire a stormwater engineer for runoff from the building $$$. Moved the reserve drainfield $$$. Many thousand in already on the smallest damn 5 acres I’ve ever seen. 🤦****♂️

Permitting will take about 2 months I figure so build will begin late May. Basics of the build are 42x54x17 plus 8’ awning. Back of shop will have light storage load loft 12x42. Will have separate 200 amp service for electric and radiant tube floor heat. Concrete will be 6” 4500 psi to support class A rv and two post lift for the hot rods. Exterior rendering from the engineer attached. I’ll keep the thread updated as the build progresses. Thanks.
