Now that I say it out loud it sounds unreasonable. I've got 208v 3 phase in my shop and I found deal on a nice plasma cutter that only runs on 400/460 3phase. Is there some kind of converter I can use to run this equipment? Thanks, 1

I wouldn't screw with a transformer just to get a good deal on a plasma. Keep looking, find one with the proper voltage to start with.

Your costs for a transformer will prob. exceed the savings on the plasma cutter.

Basically 480 V is an industrial voltage and 208V is more of a high tech commercial voltage. The equipment made for each is appropriate for the voltage IE: the 480 V may be overkill for most applications. Search around for a 208 V plasma machine.
