I've wanted one of these forever and am finally building one. OK maybe 2. I have a 48 and a 50. I'm doing the 48 first. Going to leave the body pretty much as is and make it a cruiser. I only have a single car garage so I've been doing the work on a slab in the backyard. I'm using a S10 clip and rearend. After a lot of measuring I decided on the S10 clip for a couple reasons. It was a good fit to the stock frame and with the ride height I want it's narrow enough to allow full steering without any clearance issues. I finally started on it over the weekend. Here's the progress so far.
The garage.

What I started with.

Cut the clip off. Had to go back and straighten the cuts. LOL.

S10 clip with the stock frame.

Still need to notch the lower section of the stock frame to let it flow better into the clip. Then it'll be plated.

Nice set up in the garage and good use of the perforated angle steel. I guess that's a cool car being a 2-door but it doesn't grab me. I think my parents had a '50 4-door and it was a hulk. I know my dad had a business coupe at one time and I used to stand up behind the front seat as there was no back seat.

Then they went to Oldsmobiles. One reason for that was my dad ran an advertising agency and had the local Olds dealer as a client. But he also had the Dodge dealer, so I don't know....

What I do know is I digress.

Subscribed. I've dug the Wayfarer for a long time. Maybe because it's an oddball. It's a model that was common, but is not largely remembered. Something about the lines work for me.

cool car. i had a '50 business coupe for a little while. stock chassis, still had the flathead 6 with the fluidrive. rode nice, just the occasional scrape going down the road. underside was rusty so i traded it off...probably should have kept it and fixed it instead.

I like the fact that it is different. Cut that bumper and tuck it along the lines of the grill. Tight at the center and 1' out at the ends doesn't cut it. The original designers were truly uninspired. You can do better.
