Arc Furnaces are fed directly from Arc Furnace Transformers, with large copper bus running from the transformer to the furnace. There will be a breaker or vacuum switch feeding the primary of the transformer usually.

Aluminum smelters run about six volts and a few hundred thousand amps. You should see the buss bars feeding the pot lines...
