4mm hex bit storage

I’m trying to find a storage solution for 4mm hex precision bits. I thought I could find some simple rubber holders like the ones for 1/4 bits, but haven’t been able to. I got this set at Home Depot and would like to get rid of the case to make it as small as possible. It’s just going to live in my truck.

Maybe do what Wiha did, they used a foam sheet similar to Kaizen and punched/drilled a series of 5/32" holes in it for their 4mm microbits. It would be, cheap easy and quick

I have that set, and was going to make the same recommendation.

For Kaizen foam, the usual method is to use a piece of metal heated up enough to melt a hole into the foam. Of course, don't use one of your bits for this, but with a torch and a few minutes of time, it would be fairly easy to replicate this case.

If you need the silk screened markings (they are VERY helpful), just buy the Wiha set. I give it a whole hearty recommendation.

Yeah, 4mm is a new standard for small electronics. It's nice. 1/4" is too clunky for something like a T5 bit or 2.5mm hex for example. I couldn't imagine working on a cell phone with a 1/4" driver handle.

If you look at that Wiha set, the rightmost "bit" in the second row from the bottom is actually a magnetic bit adapter. It accepts 4mm bits, and fits into a 1/4" hex driver. The "ratchet" handle actually has a 1/4" hex opening for that.

Oh ok that’s cool I can see that being hard on cellphones or electronics. I’m a mechanic so 1/4 is pretty much standard. I’ve never worked on electronics as far as phones go but I’ve seen the small screws. Yeah I see the Wiha set now.

The iFixit Mako kit is nice too. I got it since it comes with the specialty bits I need for working on my mac books and iphones. The bits are nice and the kit is well laid out.
