Over the past ten years, I’ve had four mini-split systems develop refrigerant leaks in the indoor coil. When I recently called to order a replacement indoor unit and provided the serial number, I was surprised to learn it was still under warranty.
While I’m not impressed with the longevity of the indoor coils, I do have to give them credit for how straightforward the warranty process is. Since I hold an EPA license, they allow me to diagnose the issue myself and simply submit a video documenting the failure. If I had needed to pay for a service call each time, the repairs would not have been cost-effective.
At this point, I’m seriously considering moving to a packaged unit instead.
