Hey all. I have a Ludell 4x6 bandsaw made in the 90s. Its the same ubiquitous bandsaw we all know and love. The threads for the bolt that hold the vise to the nut pulled out of the casting. Its so bad that I cannot even tell the thread pitch of either the bolt or the casting. I dont know if the previous owner cranked down on that bolt at one point or what. I could make another one but im pretty sure that the leadscrew is an acme thread and I know those taps are expensive. Grizzly sells a replacement for around $40. Would anyone with the grizzly version be so kind as to either get a picture of the vise nut from underneath and/or take it off and take a picture of the whole thing and get me a measurement on the thread of that bolt that holds the movable vise to the nut? I have attached a picture of grizzlys exploded view if I am not being clear enough. Thank you.

Sounds like what happened to mine. Not only is the main screw acme but it's left hand thread. Since I only paid $45 for my saw I just made a new shaft and nut with regular coarse right hand threads. I have to turn the crank backwards to tighten the vise but you get used to it.

So it's the mounting bolt thread in the leadscrew nut that is stripped, right? Is there enough meat to drill and tap to a larger size?

Here are some pics of my old screw and nut. Looks like the same issue you're having. You should just buy the nut from the supplier for the simplest fix.
