4x8 polyiso insulation in walls

Who has used this product in your metal building walls?
How did you secure it between metal beams that line the interior of building?


TAPE OR CAN FOAM etc. ?

Some folks suggest aluminum tape and some say can foam from local home improvement store. How much gap did you leave between the foam and the metal stud?

Used it to convert my cape cod to a hot roof insulation system...I used screws on an angle into my wooden rafters that grabbed a piece of the foam..and then sealed all around the edges with expanding foam. Without the screws, I was worried about the expanding foam pushing it where I didn't want to go.

late to my first reply.Just finished insulating my metal buildings using 1" hunter xci polyiso. My uprights were on 4' center so it was easy to measure and cut using the sharpened side of a thin 2" putty knife. I foil taped 2 pieces together to do the 10' walls and just shoved them in place and used a rubber mallet gently on the stubborn panels . friction holds them in place and a little grey caulk on the loose ones. The ceiling was done the same way and i added self drilling screws with fender washers into the roof panel supports. Then i foil taped all the rest of the seams and taped over any damaged areas. Also my electric had already been done so i had to cut out around the boxes and wiring and then used spray foam to repair the holes and more foil tape. Ended up costing 1/3 the cheapest quote for spray foam.

I did basically the same thing that you did. I need to sheet rock most of my building since it will be a photo studio. I want to use the foil for a radiant barrier so today I ran 1x4x8 horizontally to allow for a space between the insulation. and the sheet rock. I just hope with the 2" Polyiso and a radiant barrier along with the sheet rock will give me a tight building and low heating and air cost. I plan on going with a Mr. Cool unit.
