For irrigation, we took the old pressure tank & switch from my basement, and hooked a $50 HF water pump to it to draw water out of our (overgrown) pond/swamp. The swamp water should in theory have more nutrients than well water, and because it is warmer water, it doesn't shock the plants.

This contraption lets us run hoses to different areas of the gardens, and also we ran some drip & mist type irrigation lines to specific areas. The pump keeps an average of about 45-50psi water supply to the lines when it's running, and we can turn it on and off from the house. The large gardens we water with a regular sprinkler, while the blueberry plants in the mulched area have drip lines installed under the mulch to water the roots. For some raised gardens we put mist sprayers that gently spray water on the area being watered. (sorry for the poor photos)

After seeing all your zuch's in the freezer I would suggest that you get this book, http://www.amazon.com/dp/0883652633/?tag=atomicindus08-20 We have used it for years and was great in getting us started. The other book is the latest edition of the 'Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving'

Good eating through out the winter.

Thanks for the tip

Just FYI, those zuchs were in a fridge waiting to be given away. We had much more than we needed and We couldn't process fast enough to keep up with the volume we picked. My wife had us slicing and shredding probably 15 or more gallons of zucchini and squash for the freezer. It sure is good eating now that garden season is over.
