Pretty cool. Make the sheet metal mixer bars in it in more of a spiral shape and it will mix much better.

If I can find a small gear reduction unit I might make a smaller version like yours with a 2gallon bucket and use it for cleaning brass before reloading.

For something small like that a 1/2 drill has a gear reducer in it.

A trick some engineers have used in clothes dryers for drum RPM reduction is to run the belt around the drum itself.
The reduction would be the difference between the pail dia and the motor pulley dia.
In this case, around the pail.
Maybe not enough unless you have a gear reduction motor to start with?
(The dryers I have worked on had apx 2" motor pulley and 30 " dia drums.)

Here is one I made from a 45 Imperial gallon drum and assorted junk on hand.

The paddles (2) were straight and extended out about 3-4 inches. I found it worked best at about 45* so the scooped up concrete would drop straight down when the paddle reached the 12 O'clock position. Your speed looks about right to do that. I used a two stage pulley (old dryers) reduction system and it worked OK at first, then the belts began to jump off when it was called to work really hard. I ended up finding a worm reduction box to solve that problem. That is the only picture I have and I left it behind in my last move.

Yours looks OK, I like that inner bucket set up.......makes both transport and clean up easier. One change I would make.....put a soft coupling between the motor and that gear box, otherwise the bearings will go on one of them with it bolted down rigidly as you have. No need for anything too complicated, a short length of heater hose or similar will do.

Thanks for every body taking a look at my mixer. I will use the coupling idea on final assembly. Thanks to all.

You've proven the adage "Necessity is the mother of invention" w/o a doubt. Make sure you get a cover for your switch box. Everything I saw looks workable, but time will tell as always. Good luck!
