5 inch Light Base?

Bought an LED outdoor flood light. Came with a mtg plate that fits on standard round junction boxes but the base of the fixture is 5 inches round, J-boxes are about 4-1/4" leaving too large a gap.

So far not a lot of luck finding 5 inch round j-boxes. J-box needs to be surface mounted. Only been online searching so far. Local hardware store only has the standard J-boxes. Haven't trekked to the big box stores yet

Mounting screw spacing for the light fixture is just over 3-3/4 like 3.781", I think that's standard.

I did find this below but it's designed for camera mounting. Dunno if it will work. Tech support was useless.

Any advice?

It's frustrating.

Was this a direct from China item? I've ordered a few light fixtures from Amazon and Ebay that ended up coming directly from China. I had no idea that I was buying from there.

I've had problems getting things to line up in most cases. I ended up having to re-drill stuff, or cludge things to make them work. I have the opposite problem with a ceiling lights. The mounting palate is way too small for the j-box. I've tried to find something close to replace it, but I haven't had any luck. It looks ridiculous.

Probably made in China, the light. What further pissed me off is the J-box I bought came with 4 screws that didn't fit any of holes on the box.

This stuff is supposed to be standardized, apparently the thing standard is the frustration

There are 5" covers made to fit over a ceiling box, which is a 4" octagon. The cover is larger so that it covers the box and any goofs in the cut-out hole. But the cover has screw holes that line up with the screws in the octagon box. Did you try to match up the screw holes to an octagon box?

CD, I have not yet. Pretty sure it aligns with the round J-box I have.
I am reconsidering surface mounting the J-box and recess mounting it so the mounting plate is flush with the plywood. Problem is there is a doubled up engineered beam behind 1/2 plywood and vinyl siding. So I would have some digging to do but I do have access behind. Vinyl is cut out already.

Chinese fixtures come with screws that are a bit smaller than the (standard) 8-32 holes in the boxes. They don't work at all. I've learned to carry an assortment of 8-32s when dealing with them. It still pisses me off
