I like it, how could anyone who likes garages and things mechanical say they don't appreciate it? BUT, to be honest I think its obscene. Anyone can spend their money anyway they want and of course I have no idea whatsoever what this person has or is doing in the way of philanthropy but this gross expenditure of funds is difficult for me to imagine not feelign terrribly guilty about in the face of all the people that lack for so many necessities, so many ill people, people that have been the victims of crime, natural disaster, birth defects, you name it.

Still, an incredible accomplishment...but for what? Just too ostenatious a display of wealth for me. Flame away, I know many will not agree.

I can not say that I am impressed. The cars hes storing there is worthless compared to the cost of the hydraulics alone on that elevator.

Not my cup of tea to spend 5m to protect what amounts to less than 100k in cars.

Either he's all show or he's got some Veyrons or something hidden somewhere else.

Compare it to where Chris Evans keeps his collection of Ferraris inc James Coburn's 1961 250GT Spyder worth £5,000,000 Pounds sterling

With money if you dream it you can build it.

It just seems so unbalanced to me. Big huge expensive box for small amount of toys. Not only in quantity but quality. Of course, we may not be seeing the entire picture either. He may have the good stuff parked elsewhere for privacy reasons.

I've no problems with him spending his money on obscene displays. It just isn't for me.

And if it costs him $25 to open his garage and then $25 to close his garage, how much does a regular garage opener cost to use? And if I had an energy sucking appliance like that I would have to have solar power for the rest of my house to even it out.

I also like variety in my life. I don't need 50 silver motorcycles. Each to their own though. I have to say it is probably the most bizarre thing I have ever seen for personal use at home.

The second comment on the video indicates that an extensive and valuable collection was moved from that space just before the video was made.

I'm guessing he is more into the mechanical designing of the garage than what goes in it. Some people just aren't car guys.

The motorcycle collection made me cringe a bit. All those perfectly good bikes just sitting there begging to be ridden. Maybe they'll be forgotten about, and then in 100yrs someone will stumble on to them as a treasure.

My personal opinion, he is a poser. He reminds me of Ed Norton's charactor in
The Italian Job. He took his money and bought what someone else told him to
buy. Did he go into a big Harley dealer in 03' and say," give me all the 100 year models". Yes it is his money and he has earned the right to do whatever he wants with it. You have a ton of new "collector" motorcycles and you will NEVER
ride them? The garage and elevator are nice, especially the elevator. Nice view,
beautiful landscaping. The garage is a bit spartan for my taste. The big roll around in the corner, is it there for effect or is that the personal mechanics box?
Money can buy status, but it can't buy true class for lack of a better word.
Chris Evans has some cool cars and I believe likes them for what they are. (white Ferrari's are just wrong). Leno's Burbank industrial Big Dog garage a bit
more to my liking. Conducive to things getting done and it "looks" right. Again
my personal opinion...........................

He might be fudging it a bit, I do not know what KW/H cost in Tahoe. I used to work in a
Nike Missile base. Boss said it cost $5.00 to open doors, raise, lower, close doors thru a full
complete cycle. This was in 1980's dollars.

Kudos to him. Everyone here knows they would do something absolutely outlandish if they had unlimited resources and their imagination was the only limit.

For those that have the money, that garage and the house that goes with it, along with a few other homes and land next to it are on the market for $49.9million for all of them or you can buy them seperately. Some have lake frontage and 1 parcel is bare land. Take your pick. I believe the home and that wild garage is around $9M. Apparently the IRS was after this guy and his family/partners for some kind of tax scam in the $350M range.....:dunno: :shocking:

Other than the elevator, I am not impressed. Both garages seemed pretty empty other than the cars and bikes. I am much more impressed with what I see here. For me personally, 1 project car in a working garage that the owner poured his heart and soul into will always trump the lotto winner or CEO with 10 exotics he knows nothing about and never turned a wrench on.

Wow some pretty big haters on here, y'all JEALOUS.

His money, he can do what he wants.

Of course he can. That was a point I never made and I was the first one (oops, third) to offer a negative opinion. You can think what you want of course; it doesn't make you right. I know I'm not jealous. If anything, I almost feel sorry for the guy that he can't manage to satisfy his car guy urge without something over-the-top like this. He could easily do that with half the amount he probably has ******* in that and STILL have a greater garage and set of toys than I'll ever have.

If I had unlimited funds would I not indulge my car guy, garage guy urges? Sure, absolutely. But not remotely to that degree and never without some consideration of all those that truly need help. Not out of sympathy, out of humanity.

regardless if you like or hate the garage setup you gotta give credit to the guys who built that. Its quite a feat. I heard them saying that he doesnt have to worry about fumes in the garage. Thats pretty nice to able to have a underground setup and have ventilation at the same time. I was disapointed that there werent any lifts in there. Seemed like he had the room. Im wondering what the wiring looks like to circuit breaker box. :eyecrazy: All in all I dont think his personality is "douchy." Want to see "douchy"?? watch the show the lottery changed my life. SOME of those guys and girls are the definition of the word DOUCH.

^^^^ +1
My thoughts exactly / and even storing a stupid late model ordinary Chev. sedan car underground.
- plus pickup, Jeep, Audi, etc / a "collection" of new or newer vehicles, that aren't even collectable
- but he is the multi-millionare with the "pink" shirt

I don't see anything wrong in what this guy did to be honest. The garage was built to be practical in terms of storage.

I know if I had the money, the things I would do would make all of your heads spin.

The owner stated he had million dollars in cars in there. I would not advertise what I had in that vault, either.

But he did hint at the contents, back in the March 2003 issue of Elevator World:

Before this garage was featured on TV you could find interior pics on the internet showing very collectible and expensive vehicles. If I recall correctly most were European supercars etc.

The property has been listed by a couple of realtors and I'm guessing he probably stashed those vehicles for various (and obvious) reasons...

To each his own... but if I had that kind of cash I certainly would not have bought all those late model "collectible" motorcycles... give me some real classic cars, hotrods, streetrods and motorcycles for a real collection...

and then toss in a couple of supercars for my daily drivers!!! Let's see it's Monday... maybe I'll take the... Ford GT, Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, Vette, Cobra Mustang Super Snake, Viper... you get the idea...

I've seen pictures of his collection - he does have millions of dollars' worth of exotic cars. They were moved out of the garage before the video was made.

And now that I think about it in a different perspective. This probably isn't too weird in the world of the super wealthy. This is probably fairly normal. And after seeing the pic of the super exotics I see he was really putting it to use like a vault.

It reminds me of something off the old Richie Rich cartoons.

The bright white floors also reminds me of the the space where Batman keeps the tumbler in the newer Dark Knight movies.

I watched the video with no audio (at work). Does he explain why he bought so many bikes that were all identical?

I get having a few - various years, models and such. But THAT many of ALL the same motorcycle? Even for a millionaire, that seems odd.
