I am soliciting 5 senior members to vouch for me so I can participate in Secret Santa. I don't really know any of you but I am an honest American citizen. Anyone?

Sorry can't do it. I have drawn 2 newbies in the past and come the next February they haven't been heard from since. Put your time in so that whomever draws your name can look at your posting history and learn a bit about you and have no doubt as what to give you.

You've got 30 days to do 100 posts.

Right now you sound like my whiny nephew that loves to over promise and under-deliver.
Or in his case-not deliver at all.

There have been many year long members weltch on SS.

Earn it , do it and follow thru.

Or ask mamber richard cranium about giving away free tools. Lose-lose.

Wish I could man, buuuuuut......

Just this month I've had a junior member promise to go halfs on the Mayhew Buy 2 Get 2 Prybars........and never pay me. Luckily I didn't mail them before receiving payment.

And I kid you not, 2 days ago, I had a member (?) create a profile, and attempt to sell me 4 toolbox badges that I've mentioned wanting in the past from Costco. This dude has never even posted a single post period.

I'm not saying you are the same type of scammer, but I've had 2 people scam me in 1 month alone.

I know you want to be a part of this, and believe me, we want you to be a part of it too, but like others have said, you can either up your post count (easy to do), or join the alliance.

Hope it works out for you this year. If it doesn't, I hope you'll be able to participate next year.

unfortunately this is what stops people from wanting to help others, i feel your pain though. and i feel the same way about it.

the secret santa is for people "invested" in GJ. that give good feedback, are tool nuts or garage nuts as well, and it's a way for everybody to get to know each other a little better and feel like a closer community of people.

asking for a vouch on your first day of posting so you can get in on a secret santa gift exchange.... well it's kind of like showing up to a BBQ that nobody really knows you at, you're doing your best to fit in, but everybody is wondering who he is, and whats he doing there. and why is he eating all our food. nobody knows what he brought, did he bring anything at all?? who knows!

FWIW IIRC, I also wanted to be in the 2012 GJ-SS event but didn't have enough posts.

I won't say that all my posts to reach the 100 post limit were of the "Great score! You ****!" variety, but some of them were. I just tried my best to chime in where I thought I knew something. Barring that, I looked at threads where I had little knowledge of the subject and asked questions. You'd be surprised how quickly the posts rack up like that.
