Hey guys,

Found this vise on craigslist. Simply read: "5" vice". (Gotta love those descriptive listings!) Guy says he doesn't know what brand it is, but wants $40 for it.

I don't know my vises very well, but I'm guessing since there's no name cast on the side, that it's an older (1970s/80s?) knock-off of a really old (40s-60s?), name-brand model.

Should there be a "third tooth" for the pipe clamp side? (Perhaps it's hidden by the shadow of the top tooth?)

Anyone know what this baby is or might be modeled after? It's beefy enough, that even if it's a import, it looks like it'll be more than this homeowner could handle. But is it worth $40?

Its an Asian vise for sure. That style is made under many different brands all coming from china or Taiwan. I think a fair price would be like 30 dollars but if you don't need a vise right at the moment I would keep looking.

Just typical Chicom junk. I got one in a truckload of tools and sold it for $15 just to get it gone.

10-4.

I was looking at it for a friend (No really! ;) ) who's not really a tool guy or ******** DIY'er. So he's not worried about pedigree and doesn't use stuff hard enough to need high-quality stuff. The seller just told me that the third pipe jaw tooth is missing so that seals the deal. Which is no deal.

Thanks guys.
