I see my store has a few 26" 9 drawer tops for sale, for only $50:

I went there and they felt much better put together, than many other tool boxes at this price point. The bearings were metal as well. The price seems like a deal. I am curious how useful are the shallower drawers compared to the deeper drawers of cabinets like the 42" HF? I don't do as much automotive/boat work as some other people on this forum. Though I realized storing all my tools in my wood shop in the basement, means I am having to move things back and forth. I would rather just keep the mechanical/automotive items in the garage and keep the woodshop, paint, etc items in the basement.

I am thinking of a couple options:

Buy one of two of these and use one from my grilling accessories and/or smaller gardening equipment. Then buy the full 26" roller/top or a 42" HF for the boat, bike, and car repair stuff.

I know the 42" is great for it's work area and the cabinets are deeper. I won't be storing any carpentry tools in these. I do have a couple tables that I am thinking of attaching casters to, so I slide it under some built in shelves.

At $50 that's a deal you shouldn't pass, I'd venture to say it's a clearance as your provided link shows that box as unavailable and not in stock for 100 miles from me.

Stop thinking and go buy 2 or better yet 3 of them before they're gone. If there were any near me, I would run out and get it today.

I have both the Husky and Harbor Freight tops. The Husky box is larger heaver and much stronger. The drawer catches hold the drawers shut much better.
My advice is go for the Husky.

I bought one of these and a 7 drawer base cabinet a year ago.
Works good, plenty strong. Drawer size works good for me.

There's a thread about this box in the hot deals section from earlier this year. I ended up buying one then. So far so good, does not come with drawer liners.

Just as an aside. If you load up the narrow drawers, they will sag unless you reinforce the top spot welds as did YOM1963:
I'm glad I read this before I loaded the top drawers. Two pop rivets and a mending plate later and I hope I will not see any sagging.

I purchased two uppers and one lower. We are going to give one upper to my father in law for his birthday. My biggest problem I am running into is, it feels like I am having issues filling it up, I guess I need new tools heh.

I do store wood working stuff in the basement and wanted mechanical/car/boat/bike related items stored in the cabinets.

If you hang around here much longer, you'll fill those up then start looking for bigger storage. Run away while you still can!

I was in the boiler house at a jobsite today. They picked up a bunch of those about a year ago, and have them on mobile carts that they schlep around and send from building to building. No issues with any of them, a few dents from "use". Holding up good in heavy daily use.
