I stopped by the local Kragens today for some lamps, and noticed that their entire stock of Powerbuilt (and Alltrade) tools are 50% off the listed price. I guess they are going to be discontinuing that brand for something else (O'reily stuff). They still had a pretty good selection.

I stocked up on a few tools, too bad I go some stuff a month or two ago and paid full price.

Good for you. When the Murray's around here were transitioning to O'Rielly's, they didn't put a thing on sale. They boxed up all their Powerbuilt stock and shipped it to California.

Its company wide, Every Checker/Shucks/Kragen has all the Powerbuilt, Alltrade, and Team mechanix hand tools on sale 50 % off. THe tool wall at my store was wiped out almost completely in 2 days!! get there fast if you need something!! Don't go in looking for jacks or tool boxes though, we are just relabeling them as AC Delco. The warranty will still be honored but replaced with AC Delco tools should you manage to break something. Soon we will be carrying KD tools also!! :)

Don't get that excited about the kd tool I've heard they pulled alot of items because they are transitioning to overseas mfg I heard it from these guy's they have some pretty good deals on kd items, better if you are set up with a wholesale acct. http://www.cripedistributing.com/index.php
I got the flex gear wrenches and the 18 pc full polish wrench set from here, they are pretty nice but things go fast, and their quantities are limited

From schuck's sale not cripe dist. I picked up a ford clutch fan wrench set,a set of alltrade snapring pliers 4 pc,a seal puller,a magnetic parts bowl, anda trim removal tool all total about $29.00

Don't wanna get into a p*ssing contest here, but like I said, that's not how it went down in the metro Detroit area. When I first got wind of this last year, I went to a couple of the local stores and asked the guys I knew to give me a heads-up if/when the sales started. Never did happen. When I asked, I got the California story.

Based on this thread I hit a couple of Checkers on the way home today from running errands to see if the sale existed here. Yes, each store had a sign up saying that all Powerbuilt tools were 50% off. Both stores had a wide selection avaliable. Either people didn't care or they couldn't read the sign (it was in english). I picked up a LED test light, a combo pick, and an HEI plug gap gauge for the whopping price of $6.99 with tax. Powerbuilt brand tools won't inspire you to give up another brand but, if you wanted something for ocassional use like stubby wrenches or a certain size socket, half off is good if it's cheaper or not available at Harbor Freight.
I can't believe I missed out on the great Advance Auto parts (they're not in AZ) Gearwrench sale only to get a Powerbuilt sale from Checker.:wtf:

Well i just went to my local orielys and they had their 50% off sale 3 or 4 days ago i guess.

I don't know for sure but the O'Reilly's stores shouldn't have the same sale. O'reilly bought CSK and therefore is getting rid of all the CSK brand tools (Powerbuilt, Crew Line, Alltrade, Team Mechanix) to bring in the O'reilly brands (AC Delco, GM Goodwrench, and KD). So CSK has all their house brand tools on sale. Except for the markets that have already converted to O'Reilly stores, like Detroit. (Sorry, Old Donn!)

Couldn't have said it better myself

Oriely stores did have have the sale, last month all they carried by me was powerbuilt. I went there today and was told i just missed the sale by 3 or 4 days. Now the shelves are stocked with AC delco. Which is weird because that is what they carried as a murray a year ago, and had a similar sale.

Starting to feel like the red-headed stepchild. Read about the GW sales at Advance in a thread here a while back. Went to 3 stores in the area, was told "No, we're not phasing out GearWrench, they're still in the tool aisle. We're just moving our house brand up front." Bottom line? No GW deals. Whatever extras they had got shipped back to the supplier.

Went to my local store today and thought I hit the jackpot when I found the shelves pretty much full and a half off sign. I got to looking and found out that I really don't need much of anything. I ended up getting $45 of odds and ends, like a magentic pick up tool, a test light, metric allen wrenches etc.
