I've had this Nugget tool box for some time and have decided that the time has come to get it cleaned up and loaded with the Nugget set that came with these boxes.
So lets get the ball rolling.
First on the agenda was to build the tray that was missing. I pulled out a sheet of 18 gauge metal and sheered off a piece that was 19" x 48"
Then took 8" off that for the bottom of the tray 8" x 17" Next cut was for the side panels 17' + the flanges so I cut 19" off the strip. Then sheered 2, 2 1/2" from that for the 2 sides. Marked the length of each strip by 1/2" for the bottom of the tray then cut a piece 1" x 1/2" off each end and went over to the break and bent the 1/2"x 17" 90 degrees leaving the 1" on each end of the strip for the mounting flanges for the end pieces. with the ends bent I welded both sides to the bottom plate. Taking what was left from the original 8" x 48" strip I cut the 2, 8" end pieces 2 1/2" high bending 1/2" for the bottom and welding them to the sides and bottom the tray was made. It needed a divider for the sockets so that was an easy piece to make and weld in before sending the tray to the booth for primer

I had to bend an 1/8" piece of stock for a handle fot the tray but want to get primer on before welding the handle onto the tray

So with the tray made I focused on the toolbox. It needed to be sand blasted to get the old paint off so into the blast box we went.
The box came out pretty clean

Out of the blast cabinet I took my 3" grinder with 80 grit paper and went over the entire box looking for imperfections to fix. All I found was a couple small dings and several spot wald marks so a little time with some bondo and some sand paper the box is now ready for a coat of primer

Before putting the tool box into the blast cabinet I took the 2 door moldings off the box. They are made of brass so a few minutes with the buffer and my moldings are all shined up

Tomorrow the box will get primed
