I searched here and didn't find anything so I'll ask here. Brought it up in another thread but didn't want to dilute that thread so what do you guys think is the closest color to 50's craftsman table saw with bluish green base? 113.29901 saw from the 50's I'm guessing. Can't find anything in rattle can that's close. Blues are too much blue with no green. Greens are too green with no blue. Considering a quart of rusty royal blue and adding some rusty green to tint. Not looking for a total restoration, just removed some surface rust on dad's saw and wanted to paint it. Don't mind mixing and spraying (gawd knows I have enough spray guns!) but if something matched closer and was IN a rattle can, I'd do that. I matched it closely to a 1953 Studebaker truck BELL BLUE but they sure as hell can't mix THAT anymore. Also, could take the saw and get a prophet read (scan) and go that way but with the price of automotive paint now, $90.00 a pint is a little ridiculous.

Wow. The reflectivity of that color really changes with the flash on and off. Might have to get some of that and spray a test panel.

Also, I recently learned that if sprayed too heavy or re-coated too soon, the Matte Dark Pearl will be too glossy. The can says to re-coat within 6 hours or after 24 hours.

I looked up those colors on the wiki page(by the way, didn't know that even existed-THANKS). None of those look close that I could find chip. Still looking and plotting.

After doing a lot of color wheel use and mixing online, I've come up with THIS color that I think comes REAL close to Craftsman blue green.

What do you think?

Interesting thread. I've always called it blue/gray. Anyway, the best match I've ever found was Valspar gloss cobalt cannon #85041 in a 12 oz. aerosol can. It didn't look like cobalt and it didn't look like a cannon but the match was nearly indistinguishable from the original Craftsman color.
I used to buy it at Lowes but, sadly it didn't sell well enough to keep it stocked. Had I known that it would disappear, I would have bought a dozen cans. Strangely it's still on their website with the disclaimer "This item is no longer sold on Lowes.com". Sort of like "here's a picture of it but you can't have it".

I've used plastikote T-10. It was the closest match for my 1948 5197 vise. You can see it in the first post in this thread.

WOW- just found the company that mixes color to match RGB code and they want $150.00 a QUART! $20.00 a spray can for 11oz. HMM Think I'll be looking up your Valspar number!

Looks like Valspar 85041 is unobtanium. The places that show it, don't really exist, I guess (scams) and the legit places don't have it. Jeez. May be back to mixing my own.

Is that image "really" what the color looked like 50-70 years ago? How some sample of paint weathered in half a century or more would be hard to say. It may have been far more gray, but some part of the mix weathered and now indicates a bluish tint. Anyway, good luck with your effort to match it.

Looks like this company may have it. Afraid to go further. They may be selling by the pallet, not the can.

THAT'S the company that will mix to match for 150.00 a quart! That sample up on the screen sure doesn't look like the sample that closely matches my saw OR the sample that they showed when I put that number in.
