Thought I should post some more pics. These are all exterior with our snow. Have been working inside wiring getting ready for ceiling sheetrock. That should go up in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy and I will be adding more pictures as the weather warms up.

Ken: I was pointed to this thread by Your post in another thread.
Man, this looked awesome. But what happened? There has been a couple of summers since Your last post in the thread. Please update us. I am curious what became of this ;)

I always have too many projects going on at the same time. I have woked on the garage some. Most of my spare time has gone to restoring the 59 Chevy in my avatar. Also had a heart attack thrown in there.

We just recently held our car club September meeting at the garage. The wife has suggested that while it is cleaned up, that I should get the interior finished up. I am currently working to button up the outside before the cold and snow sets in for the season.

Since I have added heat, my winter indoor project is an early 60's camper that needs rebuilding from the frame up.

I will get some newer pictures up soon.

You weren't kidding about the price of original signs. My Grandfather recently passed away. We are starting to go through tons of stuff. He worked at a gas station in the 50's. I think his signs may end up being the most valuable things.

I am posting some recent pictures of the updates on my garage. Have had many projects in the works including planning for a new home on this site. Enjoy :D

I have a Sky Chief pump done except for the doors. Will be added to the island. Both pumps are Tokheim model 300's with the ad glass.

And the shop truck, which should be outta the garage and on the road early spring. It is a 1959 Chevy Apache Fleetside short box with the deluxe cab and big back window. Mounted on a 4 x 4 chassis.

Had to have the license plate as the truck is a 59 and my birthday is 11/19.

My two favorites Roger55's and yours, thanks for the update man

Thanks for the comment Sunbimmer. Roger55's is a great build. I probably should have gone with the horizontal siding and full white color scheme as he did. My siding will, I believe, be a dark charcoal solid color stain. It should blend well with the white trim and the signs.

How is your indoor build coming. I have followed yours some in one of your threads.

I think your choice of siding is very good, I have something similar on the outside walls of my garage.
In a couple of years the color will fade to dark grey / charcoal indeed, and I think that will give it a "vintage" look and there's nothing wrong with that.

About my indoor build, progress is slow right now because I did some work in the backyard first to get it ready for winter (I posted some pics in an album on GJ).
Tomorrow I'm making a start with building a mold for pouring the concrete sidewalk/pump island in the garage.
As soon as I have pictures I'll post them on my thread.
And thanks for your interest

GM Parts,
Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the forum. This is a great site. Perhaps the administrators could create a new heading for themed garages. That sounds like a good idea and could get some good traffic.

What is your location? It helps to put that information up so everyone can see it. It sometimes helps in answering specific questions you might have.
Thanks again.

Will you be open for business I see NY State signs on the front of the building? If so I would like to visit your Garage because when I was very young my grandfather owned a few Texaco Garages I barley remember them. Scott

scottv,
Not open for business but you are welcome to come take a closer look if you like. The NYS signs are not 50's vintage however the price was right and I thought they would add to the overall theme. Notice the NYS numbers have been removed.

Send me a pm if you would like to see it up close.

Your place is awesome Ken. I like the roof pitches and am curious, did you design that after an original service station design. I am just beginning to pull together ideas for converting my old hay barn into "something", not sure exactly "what" yet and will be starting a new thread on that one. The prices of original signs have skyrocketed in the last 10 years. You have some classics. Subscribing now!!!

Actually my own design that I toyed with for about 2 years before starting the build. I since have seen some post cards of early Texaco garages that have a similar roof/carport without the offset ridge and differing slopes on the main roof. The carport gable is a 6 on 12 slope, while the main roof is a 12 on 12 front with a 4 on 12 rear slope. Inside ceiling is just shy of 10'. I screwed up by not using a scissor design truss to allow for a lift. Am considering altering 4 of the existing trusses for a lift install down the road.

Have fun with your project. Yes, signs have gone crazy. Most of mine are original with a few aftermarket retro signs mixed in. I am always looking for more. Will be heading to Carlisle in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the kudos. Love the old Buicks, too.
Ken
