I've been following a thread on a guy building a VVT setup for his GLHS. Pretty neat stuff. His setup can get 10 degrees of retard and 10 degrees of advance. We'll see how it works after winter is over. I think he has a little over 100 in parts plus his time.

first off.. left swing for sure.. as soon as you get that building up something is going to get placed on that outter wall, either shelving, or an air compressor.. or just junk.. so have it be out of sight when you come into the shop (behind the door).

second I read earlier that your only heating half of your shop initially... so why worry about the fancy seals and r value on the cold side?? But as soon as you get the thing sealed up your gonna be heating the entire thing.. (let's be honest) can't have cold mopars sitting there.. plus with the radiant heating a little air leaking in though your big door joints won't even make a difference.. I had frost pushing through my doors last week when it was -16F here in ohio with 35mph wind head on into my doors... with my radiant heat it only dropped the temp in the garage area of my bulding 3.5 degs.. ;)

finally.. awesome building.. and just remember.. pay now for the insulation.. or pay the utility company for the rest of your life to heat it..

here's a few pics of my insulation.. went overboard on most everything (closed cell spray foam)

Another option for your man door would be to swing outward like what you see on public buildings. Only thing to worry about is that the wind catches it when someone opens te door. Make sure to have good stops on it so it doesn't do any damage when the wind takes it out of the persons hand.

Sat down with the builder last night and switched the door to left swing in. I don't have to decide on doors yet but talking with the builder he thinks the higher r value will be better than the seal.

Materials got delivered Monday, Should start putting the building up early april. Went with 2" thick R14 doors. Need to get out and get the ground around the slab leveled before then. It's finally going to get above freezing tomorrow so hopefully things soften up to get the ground level. Here's a few pics.

The crew got the materials unpacked and the baseplates installed Thursday. Then in snowed/rained on friday so they didn't get anything done. They'll be back on Monday to start putting up the posts and trusses.

And it's winter again! Rain that turned into snow, turned the area around the building into a muddy mess when they try to drive around it. The starter on their generator broke today so they called it quits for the day. Generator should be fixed tomorrow and it's suppose to be better out although the rest of the week is suppose to be ****, Just wonderful!

Didn't get any pictures yesterday as I was busy after work and didn't get out there until after dark. They got all of the upper side steel on and half the roof. Today they got the bottom section all on and most of the trim. They have half of the roof to put up yet and then a little more trim. Hopefully they will be done by the end of the week and the door company can come in.

This looks like a pole barn without holes in the ground. I'm guessing the concrete pour had some type of thickened edge. I'm interested in the connection of the pole to the concrete. Even if the pole is somehow bolted to the concrete I'm wondering how the poles have any laterally stability and why a good gust of wind wouldn't topple them.

The edge of the slab is 14x14 and steel brackets are bolted through the post and concrete anchored to the slab with 5/8 anchors. I have a picture but will have to upload it tonight.

The building is finished and the overhead door company is coming Wednesday or Thursday to put in the doors. They had one piece of trim that was damaged on the front that they replaced today along with 8 damaged pieces on the back that were caused by a piece of trim coming loose when they were putting the building up and swinging back and forth scraping the paint off over the weekend. I'll soon be able to move in some stuff and make room in the house garage.

So after doing some research I'm guessing you used "Sturdiwall" anchor plates? I need some type of system here like this as there is 2 feet of soil then hard pan. It is also very windy and I'd be afraid the wind would knock the post down before they could all be tied together. How wobbly are the post till they are all tied together?

Loving this! My first car was a Black over gray cloth 56k mile 87 Shelby Z Daytona with T-tops I purchased from my father when I was 15...I'm 30 now. I LOVED that car, spent every last dime I had on that thing growing up, and it was a pleasure to beat all the rich kids in their z28's and 5.0's their parents bought for them...ah the good old days. I sold the car 2 years ago to a friend and always think about buying it back, such a cool car. Good luck with the rest of the build here, can't wait to see the finished product.

A few more odds and ends moved in. I setup a menards 6 ft workbench that I had in my house garage until a built a more permanent one. It will do until I get things situated there.
View media item 40489Also picked up a new toy/project for driving around the 4 acres. 1977 Honda ATC90. Was originally my grandfathers, My dad has had it for at least 20 years, Hasn't run in a while but was stored indoors. Needs the seat recovered and a few odds and ends and should be ready to ride.

Awesome garage and I am loving the FWD Mopars you have. I had an '85 Dodge Omni GLH for a short time in the late 1980's, but my dad quickly sold it (he bought and sold cars a lot for extra money). The replacement was a much more anemic '86 Dodge Colt E. :eyecrazy:

My aunt had a black Dodge Charger in the mid 80's that she bought brand new. I think it was a 2.2 SE model with the swiss cheese rims. Definitely wasn't a 2 toned Shelby or a Turbo model.

I'd like to pick up a Lebaron GTS or a Lancer from '85 to '89. These were 4 door hatchbacks. Super nice looking. And most come with the Chrysler Electronic Voice Alert system. Total 80's car tech nerd's car.

I have all the cars moved into the shed along with my next project, the vehicle farthest to the right, a 1990 Consulier GTP Roadster. 190 HP 2.2 Chrysler turbo II motor. Fiberglass, Kevlar, Carbonfiber Monocoque chassis. Roughly 2000 lbs.

Another Picture of the car

It is car #53 and was never finished by the factory. I drove to Florida to pick it up last month. I purchased it from a guy who bought it directly from the factory over a year ago when Rosin bought out Moslers shop to start building their cars in the states and cleared out any consulier vehicles that were taking up floor space. The car was issued a title and a vin number when the build was initially started and I have already titled it in WI. I also spent a day at the shop that built the cars looking through 20+ containers of random parts for the cars. I should have all of the consulier specific parts for the car now other than the front cover that will be pretty easy to fabricate. Everything the car needs can be sourced from existing cars, like the rear brake rotors and calipers which are from a 1988 Fiero.

Not to much. Got a few more outlets installed by the service door. Have been looking at liftmaster 8500 openers for the doors but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Moved some car parts from the house over to make room in the basement. Working on repairing the Wisconsin VH4D engine in the skid steer so I can finish the foam install around the perimeter.

Awesome job, that latest car project is super cool!

I got a nice 1988 Daytona the other day it's got the 2.2L turbo and 5 speed. Do you have any recomendations for engine mods to increase power? Pm me if you want.

I would have passed on the car except I remembered seeing all your 2.2 cars and a good friend of mine always raved about his 2.2 turbo car.

Your shed is coming along great!!!!
