Twisted studs: no more reason needed to run sheets horizontally the whole length of a room, or if length is greater than your sheets’ length, then have **** joints close to ends and therefore less noticeable.
Not a pro, but firmly believe we should consider why pros do things.

Well, I learned my horizontal technique from the pros in my area. 100% of residential here is horizontal. One technique I didn't learn local though. Butthangers. Great idea and yes it's safe to Google. I don't use the commercial version, but easy to duplicate with scrap ply and cardboard.
