6" grinder wire wheel

I am looking for a good quality wire wheel for my 6" grinder. The last one I bought has come apart in no time. What do you recommend?

I would also like to get a new grinding wheel and would like a recommendation there as well.

Weiler, Anderson or Osborne for wire. Norton is good for stone.

Somewhat surprisingly I've had good luck with the Craftsman 6" fine wire wheels. Yes they are made in China, but on sale they are usually the cheapest. The last batch of Weiler I ordered (wide face width) a few had a horrible imbalance. Also make sure you are keeping moderate pressure. Excessive pressure will cause the wires to fatigue and throw fast.

I prefer the knotted or twisted wire wheels. They seem to prevent as many wires from flying out vs a standard wire wheel. Ebay is a good place to see a variety of different style wheels.

Braided will leave marks, so my question is are you whacking off heavy rust, or restoring tools? Ror the latter a fine WW is the ticket, even bronze, but those get pricey.

I'm cleaning off light rust and crude from old car parts, bolts and such, just cleaning them up so I can paint them. I may do 3 or 4 pieces on a Saturday, so the wire wheel is really easy. The old Craftsman wheel lasted me several years, but the newer one I just got at HD lasted no time.
