6" Hook & Loop Pad

I have a whole bunch of 3M, 6" discs for the old Hook-it II system where the hooks are on the sanding disc. Their Hook-it II DA pads were junk and fell apart when you removed the sanding disc. Where can I get the 6" DA pads with a fuzzy back instead of the hooks. Brand and part numbers would be a big help. I have bulk boxes from P320 to P1500. Is there an adapter pad that has the fuzzy loops on both sides,instead of hooks on one side and loops on the other? Everybody advertises "Hook & Loop" but they don't tell you where the "loops" are!

I would suggest sticking good quality velcro brand tape to a current stickit disk. That stuff has some good adhesive and I would think it could take the abuse of sanding.

The Hook-It II architecture appears to be proprietary to 3M. Also note this is not the conventional hook-and-loop velcro, it uses little mushrooms on the "hook" side.

3M sells a conversion face, but I'm guessing that it uses exactly the same material as the 3M pads that you claim don't last, so it won't be an improvement.

Many of those pads are similar or interchangeable.

Look around for a similar hole pattern or make your own, ive done it half a dozen times.

None of these people seem to understand your question except Joe Padavano. I understand it as I have a ton of Hookit II sandpaper. And I mean full cases of it. The answer to your question and this isn't a guess but a fact is that YOU'RE SCREWED unless you get creative. I called 3M and they don't have a single Hookit II pad anywhere in the company. The problem isn't the Hookit II facing the problem is since it's been 10 years since Hookit II was taken off of the market that the pads themselves (the foam part) tear apart especially on the softer thicker pads. The hard and thin firm pads last a lot longer. The facing (the loop part) holds up fine. In fact that is what made Hookit II so appealing. The disc comes off when you want it to come off and stays where it's suppose to when you don't. What I did was take some Hookit II interface pads and peel the loop off of the interface pad and then spray glued it onto a new PSA pad: problem solved. Also sometime you can peel the loop material off of your disintegrating pad and do the same thing. The interface pads are easier to strip but it can be done on the bad disintegrated pads as well. Also, you might be able to pull a rabbit out of your hat as Hutchins Manufacturing did make a Hookit II pad for their sanders. I know this as I have one. Give them a call and see if they have one setting in some dusty area of their warehouse.

I'd check a detailing site (AutoGeek, etc.). Back when I was doing that kind of thing, the loops were all on the rubber discs - can't remember the brand name(s).

Thanks for the Scotch Brite tip. I ordered one today. Will be interesting to see if it works. If so I will order more! Next option will be to check at a fabric shop for loop cloth with an adhesive backing. Will take one of my discs along to make sure.
