I'm trying to pass on a good deal to the Journal members. I bought a bunch of 6" sip panels. And got a good deal. So I want to help someone else with the extra ones I have. And I'm going to offer 35 of them to Garage Journal members first. They are 4x8 panels. 35 panel would build a 30x 50 garage, if you stick built the end wall for garage doors. They could be used for garages, or houses, or sheds, whatever. My personal house is built with sips. I'm In Columbus wi. At $75 bucks each, it would be worth it for someone to travel a little to pick them up. I will help load, and have easy access for a trailer. We could discuss on here or over PM.
...Just for reference, 35x $75= $2625....Where else could you build a garage this cheap. very diy friendly. 3 guys, 2 days, and you have fully insulated walls up and ready. very efficient and air tight. very low a/c and heat bills.
...Since I am very familiar with sips, I would give detailed instruction on how to install these....Thanks....Jim

I'm about a 12 hour drive from you and have a small (~500 square foot) cabin and shed/bunkhouse (~250 square feet) planned for our lease.

If I did the roof and floor out of SIPs I might be able to use all of them. Maybe I'll crunch some numbers later tonight.

PM incoming.

It would probably be easier if you googled sip panels, to get info..the panels I have are blank 4x8 ones. You can get tons of info, and read at your leisure. I could sell up to 35 panels. If you bought them I could show you detailed instruction on how to install. They are very easy to use....Jim

Yeah i been googling. Was mostly wondering if they were all blanks.... Sounds like id be limited to 8 ft walls unless i did a 1' stem wall or something... Did u do all exposed conduit runs then? For electrical?

Is the foam what ends up carrying the load? Stand the panels up and then slip a top plate in the top? Staple it in from both sides? I guess the osb would then be carrying some of it...?

the osb and the 2x6's at the joints, carry the load. shear strength and racking strength, are almost 3 times that of a stick built wall. plus way more efficient.

I'd love these but just not feasible for that far of a drive. I too was wondering how you ended up with then. Good luck with the sale.

I got 75 panels from a guy that bought them, then health issues, prevented him from building. I was going to build a large shop, now i'm going smaller. So. I thought I would pass on the deal to someone else.
