Hey guys, this is my very first post. I have been planning my huge garage makeover for many, many months. During my research, I stumbled upon the Garage Journal Board. I read through a ton of threads and posts gathering information and getting ideas. I figured since I learned so much on your fantastic message board, I would give back and share pics of my completed project! I wish I would have taken some before pictures, but I just didn't get around to it. My garage was a complete disaster, as messy and disorganized as you can possibly imagine! This completed project is a great source of pride for me, I completed each and every step myself with no assistance whatsoever. (Getting all of those Gear Tracks pieces perfectly level and secured to oddly placed studs was quite a challenge!) Anyhow, enough of the background info, let's get to the photos! Thanks again to all of the members who posted up such amazing information and photos, it absolutely helped me get this project visualized and completed!

Enjoy the pics!

Jay:

Two words: Simply Stunning!

I know that you're a very patient man after seeing all those pieces that you've methodically designed, assembled, and installed ever so precisely.

You've got one great space and cool place to hang out!

Really nice! My father is working on his garage - similar size and layout to yours, I'm going to send him a pic.

Btw, what are the 3 soft side bags next to the entry door (I think) used for? Is that a gear stash as kids (or whoever) get out of the car and head for the house?

Holy ****. Can you give some details on the materials used like flooring, cabinets, hangers, etc. etc.
That looks fantastic!

Looks real nice. But any reason that you did not set those bigger cabinets that are on the wall right on the foundation ledge for support?

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I'm glad you are enjoying the photos.

rieferman: the mesh basket/bags are basically for storing anything that doesn't fit well in cabinets or on shelving. (Balls, toys etc.)

ace3: the 3 tanks are indeed an exchange tank Culligan water softening system.

flatblackindustries: Everything in the garage is from Gladiator Garage Works, this includes the flooring as well. I loved the style, look and function of the Gladiator products, so I went that direction throughout.

35mastr: Because I mounted the 3 Jumbo Gearboxes on the Gear Track Channels, I simply decided to bring them up a a little higher than the concrete ledge. In addition, the ledge is quite unlevel, so the cabinets would have looked pretty bizzare and uneven sitting on the ledge.

Awesome garage, you have proven that you don't need a 60x80 monster garage to have a well organized space. Nothing against the big garages, I wish I had one but it is nice to see some of the more realistic (for me anyway) two car garages.

Great. Super. Well done!

One thing: I'd move that clock above the Blue Porsche sign; or it will be broken in no time once you start a project. Easier to see up high too.

Also-I see at least three hangers with nothing on them. Time to go tool shopping!

I like it! You turned an ordinary 2 car garage into a great workspace, hangout, and probably the envy of all your neighbors.

Your project turned out really well - congratulations! - and thanks for the pics.

One small comment though - after sticking to the golden rule of being able to see / sweep right out to the edge of the floor better than any garage I've seen, you go and park the grasscutter and water bottles to spoil the effect. Have you considered putting them in a shed?

Looks great! I'm doing the same thing:thumbup:

How do you like the floor tiles? How did you but them up to the wall? Did you have to cut them at all?

To answer a few of your questions:

cobymedic: The garage is 24 L x 21 W

Stargeezer: I will give the clock move some thought, that might be a smart idea! And yes, I need to go tool shopping, LOL!

fomocoforrester: I completely hear you on the mower and water bottle issue. Unfortunately, I have no room whatsoever for a shed. I live out in the Southern California suburbs, the yards tend to be pretty small! I purposely stationed the gardening items near the garage door, very simple to roll out the mower when cleaning up. We go through a ton of water in my house, so I swap those bottle every few days. Nice to have them near the door to the house, easier access.

firebird1999us: I love the Gladiator floor tiles! Quite durable, plus I like the way it all ties together with the cabinets. I didn't have to cut a single tile during the installation. The garage is 24 L x 21 W. I laid down 460 tiles to cover 23 LX 20. When you add in the 3 inch edge/border pieces (Which I did throughout) it ended up working out great! I took it tight to the back wall (1/2 inch spacing) and that left me 4 1/2 inches near the garage door. I actually preferred this to minimize water from seeping underneath the tiles right at the edge of the garage door. The sides have a couple of inches of buffer between the border/edging pieces and the walls. Gladiator recommends leaving 1/2 inch to allow for expansion due to temperature fluxuations. I just didn't think it was worth cutting tiles to capture an extra inch or so on each side.

Thanks again for the positive feedback guys!

That is a great looking garage! You've done a very thorough install and layout..

I go thru lots of 5gal water bottles also. I have been trying to find a good location to build a rack that lays/stacks them sideways like they are in the stores. Something along those lines would look great next to your fridge and get them up off the floor..

Again looks very nice!

A garage to die for! Excellent! I would just lower the cabinets on the left wall to the sill to add more overhead storage. Like you needed to hear that. Awesome enjoy

What vendor/supplier did you use? Did you purchase everything all at once, or over the span of some time while you plan and layout evolved?

Stuey, I bought the majority of the Gladiator products from http://www.thegaragedealer.com I also picked up some items from Lowe's and Sears as well. I ordered the flooring from thegaragedealer.com first and installed it before the cabinets all showed up the next week.

Looks great. Would you mind if I asked how much money I need to save up to get a similar result?

Cheers,
