60 Gallon, Single Phase 240v Air Compressor

How do I wire 240v to this single phase 240v air compressor pressure switch?
Per my attached pic what do I connect to the hanging wire labeled (L2 to Motor), do I connect the L2 wire to the switch block some where or just wire nut a hot leg to it?
Where does the other hot leg go?

That style pressure switch is intended for line-starting, not with a motor starter.

I suspect the starter has been added, at which point all the pressure switch should be switching is the control circuit (only need to wire one pole of the pressure switch, typically).

As has been asked is there a separate motor starter with this compressor or is there only the pressure switch? Your drawing uses the word "starter" or are you calling the pressure switch the "starter"? Has this compressor in this configuration ever been operational? Could you be missing a small electrical utility box that has the starter in it? With the motor wired directly to the pressure switch it indicates there is no starter.

The jumpers from W-Y and from X-Z appear to parallel the 2 pole contactor into a 1 pole contactor.
Assuming the piece of cordage exiting the photo goes to the motor......

Here is my wild assed guess:

The red wire would be connected to one line conductor feeding direct to the motor.
The other line conductor would enter at W or Y and become the pressure switched conductor feeding the black motor lead stacked under terminal Z.

It's odd for sure, but that what I see in the photo.

thats a strange way to wire a pressure switch...

if you have a starter the PS would not be connecting to the motor....

post a pic of the starter

They have done it that way to break only one line and split the current between 2 sets of contacts while using the pressure switch without a starter. The motor is inherently protected, so no overloads are needed, but the contacts are a little too small to carry the full current without paralleling.

That part didn't surprise me. I'm glad the instructions were posted and confirmed the wiring.

Connecting one line to a terminal lug and the other to a stranded white wire wrapped in red tape could seem a bit odd to some folks. Having 2 pigtails for incoming power or 2 lugs would seem more obvious. That's a lot of **** in that tiny housing.

I have the same pressure switch on my 3 HP compressor. Both lines are switched (lower current of course) There is just a little less **** in that arrangement (no jumpers.) L1 and L2 go directly to the switch. Motor leads go directly to the switch.
