Been shopping for one in preparation for setting up my new garage. Not in a huge hurry since the garage won't be built for another month or 2 but price shopping anyway in case there's a deal too good to pass up. Rumors flying around on here about a Home Depot closeout but calls to all the stores in this area came up with blank stares. Their best price is $459 if I remember correctly. Lowes was $479 and Tractor Supply is currently running a sale on the Campbell Hausfeld version for $429. Local Harbor Freight & Northern Tool were both significantly more although Northern Tool said they often have the same thing in a factory reman for under 400 bucks. Any better deals out there that anyone knows of ? Super secret coupon codes, etc ? Thanks.

Watch CL I picked up one for $200 that was like new:beer:
Thanks. It's what I do everyday while having my morning coffee. All the craigslist posts from the surrounding area as well. For some odd reason people here in East Tennessee, Western NC, & South Western VA seem to be smoking crack when they post stuff for sale. It's more likely to find a compressor that sells for $200 new listed for $475... Decently priced stuff is real hard to find around here. It's great that craigslist is free but... if they charged a small fee it might stop people from running stupid ads asking 100 bucks for a $5 item.

Those are the ones I called 3 local stores about last night. I asked the OP of that thread to post any other info he might have but I don't think anyone else has responded to that thread so far. None of the tool dept. managers had any clue what I was talking about and when they punched in the SKU number that was posted here it came up $459 They did say there was a different model that was on clearance a couple months ago but that nobody had any of them left in stock anywhere. :dunno:

Well I checked the local craigslist against my better judgement. Found the same Campbell Hausfeld compressor that Tractor Supply has on sale for $429. $500 bucks used ! LoL.. I'm about ready to give up completely on craigslist.

Sounds about right. For every CL deal there are 50 like the one you mentioned. But, if you can stay patient you'll catch a break eventually, compressors can be had from someone who wants to clear out the space or is moving.

CL takes patience for sure. Just because they are asking a high price doesn't mean you cant offer a low price ;) If they want to sell it and need cash you can get a good price.

I just passed on a near new IR SS3 for $400 because I really want something bigger..... but I was tempted.

Yeah I'm patient. My garage isn't even being built until the end of Feb. Just looking for any sales or clear outs on a new one that I might have missed. I left one behind when I sold my house in NH that I had for 5 years and never had a bit of trouble with. Figured since it was all hard wired in and piped to all 3 bays in my old garage it would be a good selling point when we sold that house. Happy New Year to all !

Might as well consider stepping up to a 2 stage compressor. Note; Campbell Hausfeld decal on the blue painted ones & Husky on the red painted ones (Home Depot) & Craftsman on the black painted ones. Campbell Hausfeld will have just a little more power on their motor is the difference you will find. Also, when you buy the red one Husky/Home Depot the owners manual is; Campbell Hausfeld....

I bought the 60 gallon Kobalt compressor at Lowes. It's 11.3 CFM at 90 psi. I think I paid about $450. It works great for a home shop. I have had no problems running any of my air tools or paint guns. The only thing I feel that I could use more CFM on would be my sandblaster. The compressor does run it but at times I have to stop and let it catch up. I am considering selling mine and buying a new 2 stage Ingersoll Rand 80 gallon.
