Oh, noes... I just realized something that will hurt my wallet even further. I'll let you guys recover a little bit and not post about it until a bit later on. =)

OH NO! I just realized how much work it's going to take for the write-up. DOH! Maybe it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

We need to know now! Ha ha thanks for the effort in posting these deals!

I made another order for the deep offset standard wrenches, the 6 point deep 3/8" sockets and a 2-lb Nupla dead blow (for my Dad in June). Total cost = $53.14. Too bad the wrenches are on back order.

I think that's the point -- sell all existing store inventory before they do a major restock for Father's day. Many of the stores in the DC area are already sold out of these specials

60% Off Gearwrench Ratcheting Wrench Sets

Well, 57-61% off, or more depending on how much you spend, assuming you stay in the $50-$350 tier.

GJ thread to discuss the Gearwrench promo.

This is his genius plan to get tons of hits from us refreshing his website. :lol_hitti
lol, hits don't do anything for me. Well, they do, but unique hits - they help me monitor the site's [slow] growth. You won't see me hiding a 3min auto-refesh code in there like some others do. That always pisses me off, especially when writing comments. I'd have two paragraphs neatly written out, and BAM a refresh erases it.

Anyways, it takes time to put this together. That, and I had to head out to one Sears to pick up an order and then buy something for lunch after that. It still takes time to compile things and ensure that there are no mistakes.

SK 1/4" drive ratchet and socket set is on sale also; $25 off of $60.

I saw that too, but was wondering if it was worth mentioning. How many people need another 1/4" set?

if you guys are actually buying stuff, you should click the links in toolguyd to get to Sears, I think. I think that's a good way to help the site. I'm not positive, but I think so

Purchasing via product links on ToolGuyd does help support the site, and while I try to be as open about it as possible, I don't want to actively encourage or force it. I certainly don't mind others encouraging it though. =)

Still, I like to provide as much info as possible so that people who don't want to click the links don't have to. It is important to note that I'd post the same even if purchases through certain links didn't lead to commission. Most of you will recall that I posted the same things here before starting ToolGuyd.

Commission from the month of May (which will hopefully be available by August) will reinburse me for a set I bought today for a giveaway, and will fund other goodies that I plan to give away.

I played around with other items in my cart a bit. The CC discount shows up for the wrenches but not the socket sets. So appearantly we are just out of luck on the sockets. Still a good deal though

There wasn't supposed to be a CC discount on the sockets, or at least I'm not aware of one. 50% off plus 10% plus $5 off $50 seems decent enough - I'm not sure I've seen them go for any less than that. Maybe if there was a $5 off $25 or $10 off $50 coupon coupled with a blanket 10% off sale when a socket set was already half off?

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00999546000P?keyword=SK+1/4"+set

was surprised to see sears selling SK cheaper than amazon, tooltopia.
It's mentioned in their fliers as an e-special. Probably something they want to clear the stockrooms of. That, and they might be hoping that other people have the same "well if I'm paying for shipping I may as well order more" mentality.

Stuey, thanks for the heads up! The local Sears store is only 2 miles away so I stopped in and picked up these!

P5290001.jpg

Regularly $69.99. 40% off = $41.99. I showed them a copy of the internet ad at $38.99 and they matched that price. I then gave the my Craftsman Club # and they knocked off another 20%! Total price after tax (9.25%....ouch) was $34.08! 60% off works for me!

Details via ToolGuyd

I woke up this morning, decided to see if the price of a set I wanted dropped back to a sale price, and was pleasantly surprised.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Sears is having a fire sale on certain types of tools?

Ya got my hopes up for nothing, Stuey. I've already got everything that's on sale. Sigh.

Anyone notice that the 7pc 3/8" drive swivel sockets are on sale for 27.49? The 8pc 1/4drive swivel fractional are on sale for 25. Both are half off and never go on sale. Too bad the 13pc pro wrench sets are p/u only now. Some really good deals to be had.

Yep, I noticed that. That's why they're in my list of socket sets on sale. =P Well, not the 1/4" set since I couldn't find the metric set, and after 20 minutes of trying, I couldn't get my customized search/list thing to properly list more than 15 products.

Now that I'm a bit relaxed...

So I went to two Sears stores. The first one I had to wait 8 minutes for my two orders. I had to wait a bit at customer service for this disgruntled uneducated woman to finish her screaming over $4 difference between pants she was returning with no tags and no receipt and a new pair she wanted, but I then received a $10 voucher.

I was offered two $5 credits, but I asked for store credit, and that seemed to perk the manager up a bit, especially after what she endured with the other customer.

Now, I just came back from another Sears for two orders. It was such a cluster-muck over there. The slef-help kiosk wasn't working. So the guy brought half of one order and told me to go to the tool dept. for the remaining items. He also said they would be able to cancel my other order there. Nope, they couldn't cancel the order. Then someone in receiving told me human resources should help me with that. Okay, I go there. The door is closed and there's a security lock. Surely that's not where he expected me to go...

I go back to receiving and ask them to just fill the second order. I figure I can always return the items at a different, easier to handle Sears. After running around the store and dragging me with them, they located the order. Maybe I'll keep these as give-away tools.

Oh my goodness, though... it was a madhouse, and everyone was very tense at having to wait long times. Receiving couldn't find orders, they brought back a second lawn mower to a guy who only wanted to return the one he had. It was chaos.

So now I have five sets of deep offset wrenches when I only wanted three, a screwdriver set with no UPC or labeling of any kind, and a few more grey hairs.

Since I was at that second Sears for so long, I wanted to ask about the 5 min or longer = $5 for my next order policy, but figured that would just cause even more hell, especially since the store was closing.

Also, the deep offset wrench sets were $30 in-store, probably because the prices were dropped online (from $50 to $42) but not in-stores.

I figure if guys are going to buy anyway, it's not that hard to go through toolguyd. You save 60% and support the site, it's win-win

I believe the part number is 43249, but it doesn't show up on Sears.com or any Sears cache, only on a 3rd party review site. I believe it's still carried in some stores, though.

Oh yes, I bolted to the nearest Sears tonight and got the 3/8" drive swivels sets, both of them for less than the price of one set. I have never seen them on sale before and I'd been watching for ages. I got the extra 10% for spending more than $50 (barely!) so that was icing on the cake.

Thanks to Stuey and everyone else drawing continued attention to these awesome prices. I've lost track of how much $$$ this thread has saved me at this point.

Does anyone happen to know what the time frame is for picking up an order in-store? I won't be back in the country until Monday, but I can't resist the urge to buy any longer. Will they keep things for a couple days?

I don't even seen any 10 or 12 pc sets online for the 1/4" drive...

I don't remember, but it's something like 1 or 2 weeks. Maybe 2 weeks. You can also opt for someone else to pick up an order for you.

Thanks Stuey. I just need it to still be there on Monday. I know I *could* have my wife pick it up, but then she'd know about it! Hmm, that might be the sign of a problem. :lol_hitti

Stuey,

Once again, THANKS! I am one of the few folks that NEED another 1/4 SAE. I have one Craftsman older set in SAE. I also have a metric RAHSOL and an older Craftsman metric, but I wanted a newer standard 1/4. The SK at that price begged me to order it.

I just ordered a 1/2 Were Zyklops standard set and a 3/8 Zyklops ratchet today, so the deep sockets from Sears were a welcome addition.

Keep on letting us know about these deals all around-thanks again!

Thanks to all you guys that posted deals...I ended up dropping almost 4 bills on this stuff but when it's 60% off, I just can't say no...I mean lots of this stuff was 3 or 4 dollars a tool...compared to snapon you're really getting a lot for your money! Not that I'll let my F80 out of my sight :D

I ended up getting a rolling toolbox off craigslist today as well, since it's just getting ridiculous trying to store all these tools.

Hopefully they'll stop with the sales and I can put my checkbook away!

FWIW my experience with sears going in store was just like Stuey's, fairly awful...the P/U kiosk only looked broken, I guess it worked but I wish I could say the same for the staff, nobody knew what was going on, how to take a return, if they could give me the tools I'd paid for and was ther to P/U, etc etc

It's such a bureacracy there, like ging to the DMV, what a nightmare.

And I just realized they didn't give me my flare nut wrenches or offset wrenches, wiht no explanation as to why....grrrrrrrrrrr....

I'm glad everyone was able to get in on the deal. =)

What strikes me is odd is that thus deal was not mentioned or promoted at all. It was almost a secret sale. Stores had sale prices all over the place, but customers won't go shopping if they don't know about the sales! The 3-day sale as had been advertised, wouldn't be enough to get most of us out and into the stores.
