This is my 600th post, so I'm going to share a story with you, and show you how to magnetize your stickers.

The story begins many years ago - thanks to a promo, my Dad received a rather interesting sticker from PB Blaster along with a couple of cans he had bought for using around the garage/farm. The sticker had a dog chewing on a PB Blaster can, with the simple phrase "Junkyard Dog Ugly! But it really really works! My Dad and I plastered it to the side of one of his wood toolbox cabinets and proceed to use the PB Blaster while working on an old Ford tractor and Jeep CJ-7. Later that evening, my Dad shot the red/orange paint on the tractor, but for some reason, it dried with a weird purple hue to it. My grandpa came over, took a look at the tractor, and said "That's about a f@g purple tractor if I've ever seen one." Good, lasting memories of turning wrenches with my Dad and Grandpa were made that night.

Fast forward 15 or 20 years and both my Grandpa and Dad have passed away (cancer and cardiac arrest respectively), the Jeep is long gone, and the tractor was lost in a barn fire, and yet the sticker remained. However, that sticker is still in its original place, but for reasons I won't discuss, I'll probably never see it again. With that said, I made a post here on Garage Forum trying to find a replacement sticker, additionally I wrote Blaster Corporation (makers of PB Blaster) and asked if they happened to have any old ones or if they would consent to allowing me to try to reproduce one from a photograph.

A week or so passed, and I received an email from the incredible Tom Hrabak, Blaster Corporation's miracle worker:

FROM: Tom Hrabak #####@blastercorp.com
TO: Steven Biars #####@#########.com
DATE: January 20, 2011
SUBJECT: Junkyard Dog

Steven,

We've been informed that you're looking for one of our old stickers. If we don't have any in the archives, I'm confident I have some in my stash at home. I'll dig one up. Where'd you like it sent?

After a few emails back and forth, a couple of days passed and I received the email below:

FROM: Tom Hrabak #####@blastercorp.com
TO: Steven Biars #####@#########.com
DATE: February 8, 2011
SUBJECT: Re:Junkyard Dog

Steven,

I found a sticker for you. It has a few holes in it. It appears it was tacked up on a bulletin board at one time. I've put in the mail for you today. We hope it brings you pleasant memories of your father.

Tom Hrabak
The Blaster Corp.

A few days later, I received a package in the mail:

So now that I had the sticker, I had a dilemma: Which tool box do I put it on? What if I upgraded to a better box later on? What if I didn't want to stick it? I thought about this for a good couple of days (almost in disbelief that I now had the sticker I had been searching for.)

After toiling with the idea for a bit, I stumbled across adhesive backed magnetic backing at Hobby Lobby:

I paid $9.99 for the roll, but there is more than enough magnetic backing to do all of the stickers I have, as well as draw labels, etc, so it wasn't a bad investment.

Step 1: Measure the size of the sticker:

Step 2: Now it's time to measure and cut the magnet backing to size:

Step 3: Peel the paper backing from the sticker as well as the magnet backing:

Step 4: Apply the sticker to the magnetic backing so that the adhesive side of the sticker is adhered to the adhesive side of the magnetic backing. Trim the excess after you're done:

Step 5: Enjoy the freedom to move your stickers whenever you please - great for when you want to clean up, restore, or wax your tool box:

That's great that he dug those up for you. It's funny how some little things have the most memories attached.

I've been using PB Blaster for years, and it works great.

Cool story

I would like to get some of those PB blaster can stickers but I cannot find the "contact us" link on their page. They only have some weird Blaster racing stickers that look lame.

That is really great that they took the time to say " Hey, we care." it's good to hear that the people at the offices of my favorite penetrant have a heart.

I was completely floored by the response from Blaster. In fact, it brought a tear to my eye that they actually found one and sent it to me. Unbelievably amazing customer service.
