Hi, i bought this at a garage sale over the weekend. Id like to get a new cutting wheel but they only seem to be advertised by tool.
anyone know what to replace this wheel with?
The cutter seems to be a Craftsman #5533 , and per Craftsman it was intended to use a #5529 wheel.

My wheel has following dimensions (see attached image) also:

OD: .80"

Shoulder OD: .5"

Hole dia: .195"

Flange thickness: .18"

thanks

Hi, I acquired this at a sale yesterday. I'm trying to find a new cutting wheel. Seems that all ads refer to a tool make/model.
Can anyone assist with what wheel is correct?

Best bet is go to a commercial plumbing supply store, wheel in hand, and hope you get competent help.

Worst case, go to a Home Depot with your calipers in hand, and measure, and hope you are competent. In looking at their ads, they measure the package about half the time. 🧐

Since we know Craftsman didn't "make" anything, you might be able to find it's brother in another tool line, and actually find a part number for the OEM piece . This General one looks pretty close,

Worst case might be Grainger or McMaster

Thanks, i may bring my caliper to the store as you suggest. There is a plumbing place nearby too.

Any idea how old it is? That Craftsman logo looks unusual to me.

Looks like a "long c" logo with text in the underline bar.

I have a similar cutter, 9-5533, with a crown logo.

FWIW, Amazon lists General Tools RW121 as a replacement for 5529.
Unavail at Amazon, but plenty on ebay.

And its a tubing cutter, not a pipe cutter.

Thanks, I want to use it for cutting domestic copper pipes (which I guess qualifies as tubing). I always called them copper pipe but i guess thats incorrect.

I saw the RW121 earlier but noticed the flange width is a little smaller. Do you think that makes any difference?

I see Long C Logo ended in 40's. Maybe i should clean the tube cutter and save with my antique tools :)

If by flange width, you are referring to the overall thickness of the wheel, the one on mine is approx 3/16, 0.1875, and the shoulder diameter is approx 3/8", 0.375, and the overall diameter is approx 11/16", 0.6875. There's a very very slight amount of left/right play, more like its rocking on the screw than sliding back and forth. If there's a lot of play, you could probably make a washer out of thin sheet metal or an old blade feeler gauge to compensate.

Its a good made in the USA tool. Fix it and use it.

Thanks. I meant that the shoulder dia of the orig wheel is 50" and the replacement is .375", and overall dia of orig is 13/16". I'm wondering if RW121 is unsuitable due to being slightly smaller in these respects?

Shoulder doesn't matter, not part of the cutting area.

The max size tube it can cut with a 11/16" wheel is about 1-1/8" outside diameter.
Having a 13/16" wheel will reduce that to about 1" od.

No guarantee that the wheel in yours, or mine, is original.

Thanks for the insightful comment. I ordered a pair and will try some cutting. Also, I had the same thought as you that the larger wheel may not have been intended for my tool.
