Don the grille (and car) look sweet!
Don, congratulations on the milestone of driving the dream. All of the subtle (and not so subtle) custom touches make the car for me. The clean look without the emblems, the grille crossbar and the molded-in headlight bezels really refine the look.
Looks great Don!

Good to see it all together (for the most part) Don!

Looks great, glad the maiden voyage went smoothly.

The stock front end isn't ugly but it's busy:

Then you have new fender-top trim made so it's an unbroken line. I don't recall anyone ever doing that but it is going to be amazing when the chrome shop does its magic. Even the guys who go to the trouble of Frenching the headlight rings like you did don't go to the trouble of changing the trim to be a single piece.

Well done Don!
Awesome project!
Wow ! The car looks great.
Nice work as always Don, your gainin' on her. David
I can relate about the test run rattles and gremlins Don. I've made a total of three test runs in the roadster and after each one come home to fix and adjust some more. My last outing was 2-3 miles and to the gas station to fill up the tank. I came home to find out that my supposed safe distance away from a header for some wiring loom was to safe enough. Just a little plastic damage but that will be another fix to make before any longer trips.

Very glad to hear that you are both doing better & feeling up to getting your Corvette into the shape of your dreams!
Don,
I've been following this thread for a couple of years now and it's been a hell of a lot of fun watching you build this masterpiece. I'm convinced you're some kind of secret government android escapee the way you consistently bang out the work. Ok I'm kidding, sort of... LOL
Seriously though, my hat's off to you sir, and thanks for taking the time to take all of us along for the ride.

Awesome Don!
That grille material came out beautiful and is looking good as a backdrop to the chrome bumperette and surround. Lots of running around but the final product is worth it.
Bob
Don the work on the grille looks great. When I read all the trips for parts I then realized this is in Calif(LA). That makes the driving worse. You got a lot accomplished.

2017-09-15 15.35.48 by don long, on FlickrDon: i'm guessing you have a number of small engines so do you use Non Ethanol gas in them? i had a friend of mine pick up 10 gallons of non Ethanol gas a couple years ago cause i was going to maybe weed eat some property and didn't end up doing that job. he also put in Amsoil stabil in it and i had some in my Honda Weed eater and dumped it out, but thought i'd see if the 5 gallons that hadn't been opened in 2 years was ok and my Honda started right up. not sure if it was the Amsoil or the Non ethanol or maybe a little of both, but i've never had gas last that long.
best of luck getting everything back to normal after that close call with the fire and hoping your friends and neighbors were as lucky.
cheers

I am thinking if I knew your address I would soon be serving 5-10 years but it would be one hell of a ride until they caught up with me! .... and totally worth it! [emoji106]

Don,
Beautiful vette! The headlights, grille work and stance are subtle but overall works well together and give it the look like it's ready to pounce. I bet it will drive as good as it looks.
Bob
Don,
piece de resistance
Well done..
I love me some Vettes and that's not a small statement from a Ford guy. This is great. Your devotion and patience are admirable.
Small problem with the motor. You always knew something like this would happen is why you waited on the paint.
I've followed this thread for years. Just wanted to chime in before the final finish. (it will be finished).
Did read the whole thread in one sitting. Couple of breaks for a smoke.
cant wait to see this thing painted.
Levi
Don looking good to see it this far along. How many miles too you think that it needs to be ready to paint?
