Big milestone there Don! Awesome!
Wow, that red looks so good just in pictures I can only imagine how bright it looks in real life. A paint job well done.
Don: again just WOW!!
loving all the pictures. the picture in your Party Garage thread with you sanding the door is PRICELESS. i can feel the smile on your face 1500 miles away.
keep up the good work and i'm still crossing my fingers and toes that it all turns out as you are hoping it will.
good luck!!
Don, your Vette is just smoking hot. Can't wait to see her all trimmed out and ready for the first road trip.

Beautiful color. How excited can one old man get ?
Great looking paint job, Don. Won't be long before it's roaring down the highway.
Mike
Love the color, really pops the swoopy lines of the cars stylish body.
It is one "BIG TRIP" down memory lane!!!
I hear you are going to be the new, Tod Stiles, in a new show called Route 66.

I suppose you'll hit the trans-America highway in your Corvette in search of adventure with friend Buz Murdock, a survivor of LA's mean streets. You'll probably work odd jobs as you both meet and interact with colorful characters and find yourselves plunged into one situation after another, some of them romantic, some of them very dangerous.
Should be a big hit with that sweet ride in the stable.
You'll have to give away the rest of your rides to me as you will never find time to drive them! ...LOL!
Thanks for sharing the build, looking real sweet....
So what lipstick did you borrow from the wife to get the color ?
"because all Corvettes are red"
great job!
Big milestone there Don! Awesome!
don that is no longer a car it is a work of art.
Finish line in view and wide open throttle you can coast to the finish line!
Very happy to see you are finally there!
Car looks fantastic!
Having my own long term car project nearly finished, I know well the excitement and feeling of accomplishment as the colour finally goes on and reveals the beauty of the car.
Don, on my monitor it looks like a mile deep candy apple red paint job and somehow even better. In person that must have brought a tear to your eye.
Just as long as it is not “resale red” LOL! Looks great.
One question, why paint the doors, hood etc separately instead of on the car?
Thanks BMW Rider
Do you have a thread on the fore mentioned project?
I'm pretty proud of this one.
That makes sense. I knew you had a good reason!
IMG_2810 by don long, on FlickrI haven't shared it here, but do have a build thread on a couple Mustang forums.
Its a 79 Mustang coupe built as a semi race car/ autocross car.

Looks beautiful!
Hope you will talk about the products/process you use to buff the paint.
Really enjoy seeing what you do.
Thank you.
IMG_2806 by don long, on FlickrThanks, Don.
No water till the 2500 grit? And all done with a DA and no hand sanding with blocks?
Clearly, your work is second to none. Think the 3M polish will be used to buff out the new to me 911.
Thanks again for taking the time to talk about your process.

It's a different Don here at the show. Don: sorry you got some of what you thought was our rain, but I didn't send it to you.
your little 62 is looking pretty sweet and hope you get to drive it before your arm falls off.
still crossing fingers and toes it all goes as planned!!
Don,
Why didn't you announce you were showing the vette at Detroit Autorama this weekend?
Oh waitIt's a different Don here at the show.

Don't worry, while this was a nice car it won't hold a candle to yours. It does not have the special fabrication you put into yours and your red pearl paint pops way more in pictures than this did in real life. It just made me do a double take when I first walked up to it.

That car is looking soooooo good. I wish I was closer so I could see it in person. Keep plugging, Don. You'll be cruising in a week or two.
Mike
Don: as the chrome starts showing up it just makes your paint job look that much better.
just curious cause i'm not sure I've (we've) seen or heard anything about the seats. since the little seat in your mini airplane looks over the top i'm guessing that your VETTE seats are at a friend of yours getting restored better than new?
keep smiling cause i can see it from here as your VETTE gets closer to the finish line.
Beautiful now and going to be gorgeous when assembled. Love the ‘62 Vette!
I'm falling in love all over again. The lack of letters and emblems on the nose make the other chrome stand out even more.
Car is looking fantastic Don. Great job.
Don: i hope your weather is as sunny as ours is today and maybe about 30 degrees warmer. keep up the great progress and you are getting very very very close to the finish line.
nobody can shine chrome or steel like you can so while it's been a while since we've seen a few more pictures I (we) can hardly wait to see more and whenever you have some more to post please do.
with all the parties you've had this year it's hard to imagine that you've come so far on you Vette and best of luck with the rest of the work.
Cheers Buddy!!
