Nice work. Its been really interesting following it so far.
One thing I am curious about is why you didnt turn the engine and transaxle around and distribute the weight more toward the middle of the car?

Mainly the cost for a mid-engine transaxle set up and wanted to keep it tranditional looking with an engine hanging of the back.

Little bit of an update, after inspecting the rear arms it was determined that the welds were questionable and in fact they were. We found roughly, two inches of area that wasn't penetrating into the material. Glad it's getting corrected now then later.

I'm trying to do the same set up with the 3.6 and 091. Who made the adaptor plate and how are you setting up the electrical for the 3.6? I'm in Afghanistan right now but ill be getting back in October then I'm going to get back into my buggy build. Oh yea, do you live in oak hills? I'm From apple valley and if so, would love to stop by sometime and take a look.

In racing, it's only considered a mistake if it went out the door wrong. You caught it before it fell off at the race.
Nice progress, that thing is gonna be a monster.
Thanks for posting.

I'm using a VW Baja bug fiberglass hood modified and cut to fit this.

Here are more recent work done. Plumbed the brakes, power steering and rear suspension but haven't completed it yet.

Bought all of the hardware, God it was equivalent to the GDP of a small African nation.

The adapter plate was made by Kennedy Engineering Products (KEP). I bought a premade harness from CBM in Ontario that comes with everything I need. Its actually awesome because it only requires 5 wires to work. :3gears:

I had better luck for my adaptor plate clutch and pressure plate throw out bearing at OUTFRONT www.outfrontmotorsports.com. nothing wrong with either product but outfront had the items in stock and the KEP was a couple of week weight in our case. I have given OUTFRONT a call for CV info and they were so helpful they sure made me a repeat customer. and we have now done 4 ecotec conversions. and we use efi harnes Steve, always answers his phone to answer question and very fast service.9099103867. All these places are good I have tried and contacted more then one good luck

Outfront is a good company as well but I'm not sure they make adapter plates which is what he was asking about but I believe KEP makes most of the adapter plates other companies sell. There are many good companies in SoCal that are established in the Off-road world.

Outfront did make the adapter plate for my project and is a little different then the KEP I believe it did not have the roller pilot bearing but a sleeve which I kinda liked. I actually went over to the KEP factory which was down the road a bit, and they where very helpful and checked out the adapter we had got with one car and the clutch for run out and any flaws so I know they are good people. but I could not get one on another project without a long wait, unless you find a place that stocks them and most just order and drop ship to you.

Forgot about this thread(website). Last update for this thread. The car was finished and I drove it for a few years until late last year. I sold it and do regret it so I picked up another carcass and have begun a new build. Thread coming soon.
