I will add to the list of members in good standing:

Krusty the Clown

Rickster

Both of these guys are definitely people who I'd want to do business with again...

Wow, I never dreamed that I'd be the subject of a new thread. :)

I'm glad everything worked out as planned Jason. Thanks again!!

Merkava, that was a cheap shot, but a damn funny one!!
(For those that don't know, in a separate thread I posted on how I basically disintegrated a pair of Channellock pliers but soaking them in muratic acid too long. I was trying to remove the chrome.)

Add me for Rickster, wrenchr, and Nissan Crawler, not to mention Wil and several others who I have either bought from or have offered me help and assistance on countless occasions. Was it Mad who got me out of a real bind with the VW brakes?

I've only ever dealt with oxycodone on here, and he was great to deal with. Sent exactly what he described for a great price and was flexible with payment options. I believe he even sent the sockets out before he received my payment! Then there was an issue with shipping but he followed it up until I had them in my hands.

Thanks for that!

If I may, I would like to add to the "good guy" list:

deafautotech
PoorOwner
ImportTuner
danski0224
boiler7904

All of whom I have personally had dealings with and no regrets.

+1 on 64merc being a standup guy. He sent over a nice collection of snapon/bp/mac tools to me in NO TIME FLAT. I was very impressed with how everything was wrapped, and his great communication during the process.

Now, if I could only figure out how to use the thread cleaning tool.

It's great to see straight forward and honest dealings, instead of the horror stories and shafting that goes on with eBay.

Congrats 64Merc on following through with your transaction in a professional manner.

It is certainly great to see a public forum with members who for the most part treat each other with respect and give advice based on life experiences.

Since we are on the topic, I would like to give a shout out to hholmberg who has offered me advice with regard to my lathe use and acquisition within the last six months. I much appreciate PM's offering help or advice.

Hey, thanks for the compliments :). I am a tool guy myself, and I know what I expect out of people when it comes to customer service issues, so I just try and treat people the way I would want to be treated.

BTW, just determine the pitch of the thread that you are trying to restore/clean up, and match the pitch on the file. Then just line up the grooves on the file with the threads on the bolt and gently push thru it like you would an ordinary file. If you take your time on it you should be able to restore a damaged section of the thread (like if it got hit with a hammer or something). I don't have a lot of experience using these, but this is what I would do. Hope it helps.

More good transactions!

I was delighted to receive today packages from both:

64merc
Rickster

Both parcels were well-packed and delivered to Canada at reasonable prices (unlike some eBay auctions). So props to both you guys!

(And another 6 ratchets get added to the collection...)

+1 on Wrenchr here too.

Thanks to Jason, I now own a vintage Fleet set & a modern Cornwell ratchet! And soon (at least) a vintage Indestro ratchet will also be added to the collection...:)
