This is a project that’s been a long time coming. I’ve owned my F100 for 8 going on 9 years now. Life has taken priority so it has sat for awhile. This will be a long project, but hoping to make regular progress.
The plan: on the outside not much will be done. I love the color and this is essentially a “survivor”. There will be body work done in the way of cleaning (getting as much surface rust as I can off while keep original paint) the rust, straightening some bumps and bruises, and aligning as best as I can. I will be doing the CV IFS. For power I have a 91 mustang 5.0 and the M5ODR2 from a 94 F150. I have a YouTube series where I strip the EFI harness down of unwanted parts and build it back up to be stand alone. I rebuild the rear brakes and relocate gas tank to the rear between the frame rails. I will be fitting a more modern seat and clean up the interior. I ultimately want a nice driver. Well…….let’s get it start.

The disassembly begins. I’m bagging everything with nice labels and descriptions. I know life (at least mine anyways) is crazy. I want to make sure between pictures and descriptions that I can put this back together.

I've got a mid 90s grand Marques with low miles on it that I let my son in law have for a driver.
I told him when he gets tired of driving it we'll put the disc brake rear end and front suspension under an old ford pickup,we just need to find the right old pick up to transplant everything on to is all.

And…….my first challenge. I have been pre lubing the fasteners for a few weeks now. It didn’t matter, I have broken the nuts off of spring nuts. I can get to the backside so far, but it’s killing time. I do t really want to hurt the original paint, but I’m about to break out the cut off wheels

Jim, there are guys transplanting the whole chassis under the truck bodies. Some look very nice. Thanks for commenting.

I took care of it. In the right spot now.
I will be keeing an eye on your progress. :)
I own a 65 F100. Short bed, lowered front and rear but used DJM dream beams. 351 windsor abd C4 trans. Last year I installed an Ididit tilt steering column.
I have owned mine about as long as you have yours. :)

Thank you for moving it for me. Very nice truck! Did you buy it with the Windsor and C4 or do the swap yourself?

Swapped it, had a 302 and a FMX trans in it when I bought it. Within a few weeks of getting it on the road the trans started slipping and the engine losing oil pressure. I have some better pics somewhere.

The 5th pic is not long after I bought it, started doing body work. That was still the 302 and FMX. I would like the patina on mine but it was in gray primer when I bought it plus lots of dents. The bed sides looked like someone was hitting it with a bat.

Maybe a impact just burping it?

I’m noticing your headers. Are they just shorty mustang headers? I have some stock header manifolds/headers with my 91 5.0HO. I’ve read that they will fit, but I’d like reassurance. I plan to use what I have and potentially upgrade later.

Yes, those headers were on the 302. :)

Seeing your project reminds me of when I worked fire/rescue here in S.E. FL. The dept. bought a new '74 Ford pickup to replace the '56 Ford pickup that was still in-service after 18 years and 26,000 miles, all while it sat garaged when not in-use. The department had gone from a volunteer dept. to a paid dept. in the late 1960's. The '56 Ford pickup was actually owned by the volunteers, and when the new '74 Ford pickup truck was purchased, someone in charge of things for the volunteers sold it to the local Chevy dealer for $300! They probably would have had a bidding war among the paid dept. members, to purchase the '56, if they had made it known to the paid dept. the volunteers wanted to sell it. By this time, all the volunteers were elderly, and it was just a social organization.

I learned to be a driver-engineer operating a Hale pump on a '59 Segraves open-cab, non-synchro manual transmission and a descended from Pierce-Arrow, inline straight-eight cyl engine. It had a dual ignition system in case one went inoperable. The first paid dept pumper was a '70 Ford COE manual transmission w/a 1,000 gpm Hale pump. That was the first in-service pumper when I joined.

Your truck looks like one of Jon Ward's Icon-Derelict trucks/cars. Those sell for stupid money.

I had some more time to devote to my truck project. I got tired of messing around with the rusty hardware on the front end. So I just unbolted the clip from the cab and set it aside for now (nothing like procrastination!) I cut the exhaust off, and disconnected the clutch linkages. I unbolted the mounts and had the drivetrain out in less than an hour. I then took a scraper and started cleaning dirt, and greasy gunk off of the front crossmember. I will need to find all of the rivets and welds. It looks like more progress than I feel it is, but important nonetheless. Thanks for looking!

Someone was working an inside deal for a new Chevy….

You forgot to mention the great braking system on those Seagrave Anniversary series models.

Following this thread for your progress.

so what's your youtube channel?

never mind, found it. will you be putting any of the build videos up?
I have been taking videos. I’m seriously thinking of it. I’m also thinking of doing a series on the f150 ”5.0” harness. I’ve had a bunch of people interested so I’m leaning that way. I just need to clone myself first!

Not much progress this go around. I needed the lift for DD maintenance. I pushed to F100 (still need a name) in the other garage and racked my F150.

I used a putty knife scraper, razor scraper, and brass brush to clean the glue and foam left from the dash pad. I used denatured alcohol to try and remove the adhesive. It worked ok, but not as fast as I’d like. It is mostly done, but I want to get the windshield out and finish the rest before primer and paint. Thanks for looking!
