The 660 is a wonderful box. If it's really like new I'd start at $1000.

Heavily dependent on condition and market. If it is in as good condition as you say it is ~$600-$1000 depending on local market.

Remember you can always drop your price, but kinda hard to raise it once set.

Detail it; wax it?
Pictures sell things.
Great pictures sell things quicker and for more money.

That's a nice box. Good luck.

A 660 in like new condition is worth 5 to 6 thousand easy.

If you let it go for less than 5 you're giving it away.

They don't build the boxes that strong anymore.

6-5K? for a KR-660, bottom only, empty :scared: Sorry, but no way. If it is absolute prisitiene, I could maybe see something towards $2K. Look at COMPLETED ebay listings. Also factor in that the OP is in a pretty remote area and we have not yet seen the box. OP, no offense. But so many times have I been told "Great condition" without pics. Then when the pics do show up. "O well, it is a little worse than I remember" or something like that. Again not saying that is the case here just my experience.

Price it how ever you see fit. List it for $10K if you want. In the end you really won't know until you test out your local market.

On which box? The KR660, KR1000, and KR1003 are special boxes.

To my knowledge we were only talking about one box. A 1988 KR660B? :dunno:

Why? Why do you value it so low? If it's built better than a comparable new box that lists for 5 thousand, why not value it higher than the new box?

I haven't seen a specific case where a normal, very nice older box was worth what it cost new (inflation on super-old ones not withstanding.

I will say, the number of buyers @ 5k for that box are few and far between compared to those in the grand range.

Something is only worth what the market will bear. I'm simply just reporting what I have seen them sell for. Sure it may be worth 5-6K, but if you can't get someone to pay that, is it really worth it? :dunno:

Boxes like that are knida hard to market. Most pro's will want a larger, newer box off the truck. Sure that maybe 5k+, BUT the upside to that is that they can finance that with their dealer. 5-6k is pretty hard for someone to come up with at once all cash. Then there is the home hobby guy. While that is a nice box for the home. Very few DIY guys are going to swing 5K for a box. If they do, they could get a much larger, more modern box for less.

When I say a "value" for an older box I base that off what I have seen them sell for. Why do you give it such a high value? Have you seen them sell for that? No I'm not trying to argue or question you, just curious for my own edification.

I had a late 80's 660 for about a year... didn't really use it. Bought it for 600 or 700 and sold it earlier this year for I think 600. It was in fair condition for the age, some of the sliders were starting to get rough. Had some paint scratches, no top of anykind. I don't think I could have got much more for it. I'm in a pretty small remote town...

I have a 660B with roller drawers. I bought it dirty for $500 off of CL. The ad had been reposted for several weeks before I pulled the trigger. It was dirty but it was straight and the slides all worked fine after cleaning. I did have to put new locks in it. Now it's clean and works/looks good too. I love it and I think I paid a fair price.

Value is only what people will pay, nothing else matters. These old boxes do not sell for as much as our hearts think they should. Sell it at a reasonable amount or get used to having it around. It's that simple.

KR660B
Cubic Inch Capacity: 22,537
Square Inch Capacity: 6,587
Price List April 02, 1990 $2,549
Adjusted for Inflation: $4,561.23

KRL1056C
Cubic Inch Capacity: 22,356
Square Inch Capacity: 6,585
Current Price: $4,795

I would say at the bare minimum, it's worth the
price adjusted for inflation in 2013 dollars.
I'd trade my KRL1056 straight up for that KR660B.

I'd like to thank all of you for your feed back. I will try to post photos of the box. I'm not very good at this thing. What I'm trying to do is make room in my shop. I won a homack Arm Drop NAPA top & bottom box signed by Rich a few years back. I like the cool factor of the top box. I know the homack is not the box the snap on is but selling the snap on will pay for a lot of insulation for the shop. Today I turn 60 I'm on ssi winter in Montana even with global warming I need insulation & heat I'm not as tuff any more bad knees & shoulders. This getting old isn't what it's cracked up to be. Thanks Again Rick

I gave $400 for mine. Dirty, ugly, missing a piece of vertical trim, and a few sticky drawers. I thought it was a good deal, until my Snap On rep decided he wouldn't warrant the 4 sets of busted slides @$70 each.
