I know I've searched through the toolbox thread but it's a pain to go through 20 pages at a time.

Can you guys post up some drawer shots? I made a mess out of mine and can't decide how i want to fix it :dunno:

Can't help, I only have a KRL.

Same here but I love some of the ideas in the Epic.

I'm currently brainstorming making my own box and I want to average the plastic boxes a lot of tools I have come with then come up with drawers that actually fit tools unlike my current KRL.

I came close to getting a 68", but didn't see it worth the money in space gained over my 1022. What I want, SO doesn't make. I want a 3 banks of drawer box based of a 68" so that would be a 92"er

What are you having a hard time figuring out? Maybe some of my lowly KRL organization can help. Personally, I shoot for the the most tools in a drawers and think a lot of guys waste space.

Trying to put more tools on each drawer and open up some space. My socket and wrench drawers are fine. It's everything else lol

The problem I have is too many shallow drawers vs. bigger ones. It's a model they keep repeating and I don't get. I guess it's fine if you want multiple drawers and lay your tools flat but I don't want that.
I've got some interesting ideas to fix it besides making bigger drawers.

I agree. My shallow drawers are just barely to short for a plier rack. That *****

This is the only drawer shot I have right now

I think if you're looking for deeper drawers and more width like the Epiq the KRL1032 is a good compromise. Here's my 1032, yes it's 72" wide with 2 Banks. The newer 1032's also feature 2 72" top drawers but I prefer my set up.

I like to be organized and not have to dig through a pile to find something.
I actually have about 1/2 of my box that I don't really like the way stuff is stored, but time has not allowed for tearing it all out and reorganizing while really thinking it through.

You got a side cabinet -- your right about packing in those plastic case kits / bulky stuff there is good. I rearranged the drawers to try to get the most out of it.

The wrench drawer is getting full and I'm happy with the layout. Standard to the left, metric on right, odd / specialties fill in the center.

The socket / drivers drawer:

Now I'm the exact opposite. I want to lay my tools flat, so I think they have too many deep drawers and not enough of the thinner ones. It's like they need 2 configurations of each box - one for the guys that favour the thin drawers, another for the guys that want more of the deeper drawers.

Honestly, as much as I like my SO stuff, this issue is the one reason I like Matco boxes - they have more options / configurations box main sections (rollers / top chests / hutches / ect) and of drawers in them to fit different needs than any other brand, from what I have seen.

I like matco as well but my dealer can't come close in pricing. His entry 4s double bay is 6500. I paid way less than that for the epiq. And I like it being deep

The only thing I hate is the cubby hole drawer on matco 6s

This is day one trying to figure out how to load it, it's set up now. I'll get some more pics tomorrow, the second full length draw is the only one I still haven't figured out. This is a 68

That's strange. I was able to get my box for right around 6500 with a 1500 dollar trade in. Same size as a three bay, I just have really long drawers on one side. 6s custom built.

that's not a bad deal for a 6s. Our dealer is top 200 in the country every year. I'm not sure how many matco trucks there are lol.

Snap on is platinum or double platinum. Thanks for the pictures. I'm going to try to rearrange it soon. I could have yesterday but I went home instead lol

And I tried putting my plier rack in 2nd drawer yesterday. It didn't fit?

waggoner do you have any inside pictures of the half locker?

Strouty I was going to get that same color if I had custom ordered it. I was able to get an 84 with hutch and light for 10k otd, no trade in. or 6500 with trade in. Kind of regret not doing that, but whatever

Working out of box like that I would try something different.

Simply put: I would sort out the most frequently used tools and put them into the top drawer for ease and comfort. The idea is to minimize access time and the need to constantly shift through drawers. IMHO the top drawer is wasted holding 100 lb of sockets, some hardly ever used.

For example - top drawer.
Metric only, and 6 point only for sockets:

Combination wrenches 10-19
Rat wrenches
1/4 chrome socket set
3/8 chrome socket set
3/8 impact sockets /swivels
3/8 impact wrench
1/2 impact wrench and most used socket sizes
16 oz hammer
few chisels / punches
Gasket scraper
2-3 screwdrivers
Few pliers
3/8 hex socket rail
3/8 torx socket rail
Prybar or two.
etc - depending on how much room you got and what you need most of the time.
.....
You get the idea and of course your mileage will vary depending on what you are working on.

Half locker, nothing special, just half as tall as a regular locker:

A lot of the stuff mentioned above goes into a roll cart if you really are looking to shave time.
