Hey guys Ive had my 36x60x12 on 6x6's now for around 6 mo. Noticed the other day that most of the post obviously are slightly splitting and turning, but one in particular has twisted so much at the top that the metal truss tail end is almost off the side of the post. Of course its bolted to it with 2 1/2 bolts so it shouldnt go anywhere, but I was wondering if anyone had and idea on how to straighten the post back up?

Sorry. Don't think you can straighten a 6/6 that's warping.

6/6 don't usually warp to bad. 4/4 on the other hand are awful after you go past 8 ft

When my son and I built our 36X40 barn two years ago I had a 4X6 PT post that warped REALLY bad. What I did was run a water hose to the top of the post, wrapped the post about 3" below the hose with a towel, let the water trickle down all four sides for a couple of days. I then just yanked the post back into position, and screwed a length of 2X6 on either side to "help it hold that position".
I realize this may not be practical with a completed structure, just wanted you to know that PT can be straightened if you get it wet enough. Wish I could find the pics for you.

Good luck

The direction of the grain determines if a piece of wood will warp or twist when it dries. I found this somewhere online. It seems to be pretty accurate.
