What hobbies will she be doing? I agree with OptionalStop. Storage will be an issue with a space that small, so use the vertical height as much as possible.

Figure out what supplies she will be using and find a multi drawer chest or tool box w/ as many drawers as possible. If you find the right size they can be a base for a workbench. Use one of these for the bench top. oops can't find it. HD has a 18inch wide board that is kind of like butcher block but only 3/4 thick. For the walls I have 3 of these in the garage and 3 more in my basement work area.

They also come in version that are all the large drawers or all the small drawers.

Comfortable seating and a smooth floor for the chair to roll on. Depending on the crafting tasks make sure the counter space is laid out most efficient.

If it's only going to be used in warmer weather you can create some storage space in between the wall studs if it's framed that way.

6x8 is pretty small but you have to work with what you have. What kind of options does the shed supplier offer? Roof styles? maybe a window in the door so you don't loose wall space. I just sold a 6x8 last week and they opted for a single slope roof so they could have shelves all the way up on the tall wall.

We had a bathroom once that was 6x6. No way to do much of anything in there. Maybe a small wall bench on one end and maybe another that folds down against the wall when not in use. Upper cabinets eat up 1' so cabs on both side of 8 leave you only 6'. Lower cabs are 20~22" - I'm getting claustrophobia just thinking about it.

8x10 or 10x12 IMHO. 6x8 is a mower, weedeater and gas cans.

I have a small room that I use for reloading and a safe. After subtracting the door way (have it swing outwards if possible) and the safe, it is about 5x7. Very tight. Need to use wall space as much as possible

If you room get a bigger shed. 6x8 barely leaves enough room to walk in and turn around, let alone work. If you have to stay with this size look for shallow shelves and fold away work tables.

I just finished building up my 6x8 shed for a small workshop and tool storage. Check out my thread on it. “ Catfishdan’s new 96x72 shop “. I found the secret was to go tall and get as much stuff into the rafters as possible. Doesn’t really feel that small with the high ceilings.

Been there/done that. I think this was 6x10 though, but it was a tight space even for reloading.

The day I finished it.

It's definitely tight, no question. Main goal was to get the safe out of sight. I do so little shooting right now that I haven't used the press in about 7 years... Hoping to fix that in the next couple years

What percentage of 48 square feet would she need for counter space/work space? Subtracting out the door swing, etc? That’s the countertop measurement. Now, will it be pub-table height or desk height? So the other replies are correct about storage above, below and aside. Light and bright is great to avoid fatigue and the color of light too. Some people fatigue faster under fluorescent. And air quality is a great suggestion as to ventilation and climate control.

I can't imagine a 6*8 workspace. I'm thinking 8*10 would be minimum. My little gargen shed is an 8*8 and it's a good amount of space.

My local public library has a decent collection of workshop books so I cycle through them gleaning ideas. I’m not sure if this one is worth a full retail price, perhaps a big box store has one to flip through to gauge its utility for your particular situation. They usually have a bunch of these types of books near the checkout counters.
