7/16 Drive Blackhawk socket set and toolbox

I came across a set of what I thought were 3/8 inch sockets and toolbox and bought it cheap and discovered it was Blackhawk 7/16 drive sockets.

I found the history of the Blackhawk tool brand on this forum and researched out my components and discovered they were from 1938 to 1942 lock-on style sockets with gripline ratchet, extension and speeder wrench.

My question is is there an adapter to go to the 7/16 drive either 3/8 or half inch than anyone knows about so I can use these tools or is there a forum for which to sell the set

Yes. Depchiefretired, there were adapters, but I am not sure if anybody posted them yet. I forgot where I saw them - there is a post somewhere on this site showing them on one of the advertisement pages.

Why would you need an adapter to use them? The 7/16-inch drive tools (ratchet, speeder, and hinge handle) that come with the set will fit the drive end of the 7/16-drive socket wrenches that come with the set, and the socket wrenches have a range of opening sizes on the business end that will fit the same fasteners that the mid to high end of 3/8-drive socket wrenches and the low to mid end of 1/2-drive socket wrenches fit. They made and sold the adapters to extend the range a little, but you don't need the adapters to use the set.

I agree, however I'm a little dubious about using the ratchet and having it fail. Then the sockets would be useless for the most part.

I do use mine sometimes, but take it easy on them!

I wasn't imploring you to use them. I wouldn't, either. Because I am notorious for not using any of my antique or vintage tools, unless it's a special one that is required for a special purpose, when a modern tool will do. I was just explaining that the tools and sockets were organic to each other and perfectly useable in case you were confused by the oddity of the whole concept. I can see that you're not, so disregard. I will add, though, that it wasn't fragile, i.e., in the sense of too much or too little torque causing strain or stripping. The design, engineering and steel of the handles and the sockets are all proportional to the whole 'tweener concept.

Not using them is like like having toys you can't play with. You won't break them just no rough stuff.

You could consider flipping the whole outfit to a collector and buying something else.

Which socket sizes come in the set, also 12 point, 6 point or 8 point?
I was also wondering if you could measure some of the sockets to get an overall length?
