Hello from the northern parts of Sweden. I have been watching from a far and now is proberly as good a time as any to share my new build with you guys and gals. It all started when I found the love of my life and we wanted to renovate my old house built in 1913. We struggled to find time since we both work a lot and often during weekends and evenings (I work as a principal and my soon to be wife is a nurse in social and psycholgical enviroments) so we decided to tear down the old and build a new house instead. We both really liked the surroundings and views from the old house positioning so we still wanted to live at that location, alas in a more favourable house.

So began a journey with lots of planning and executing of the many, many thoughts, hopes and dreams that we came up with. Our contractor had his hands full but we also wanted it to be a fairly easy and simple solution so that it did not "pop" in our old building community. (That was not achieved since the new house is quite different than the old but...)

Anyways, we really wanted to have social spaces, where we could hang out with friends and family, both indoors and outdoors. I have always liked to have cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles so we had to have at least a fairly big garage and proberly more than one. (The snowmobiles are getting their own next year) My current fleet of viechles consists of:

1971 Ford Mustang mach 1 - 466"Cobra Jet resto mod
2010 Audi A5 coupé -new engine, stage 2 and moving towards stage 3 openmap
2014 BMW X1
2019 SkiDoo Freeride 850 154"
2018 Yamaha Sidewinder Turbo

I will try to update with picures as I move along but since we finished most of the house and surroundings I will be able to post more pictures from the start.

/Johan

Teardown started in october and er spent about two months tearing apart the interior. The deconstruction of the house and preparations for the new house took about two months to complete.C3702280-9721-4D6E-8B56-71926CE5EB10.jpeg

During winter’s dying days we took care of the upstair floor. (The main floor is complete and-/or assembled by the contractors, but the upstairs are up to us to fix.) 29F09F69-E916-496E-9696-FED7B7D5C04D.jpegA4CD0994-5EB5-4CE0-80B1-93DF0B919933.jpegB09D7C37-E520-47FC-BF3A-B41399FB7FF4.jpeg50AF4B94-4A4A-4189-96CC-594227EA8C8B.jpegA236D337-CBE8-489D-B069-FBDC6EC94AC3.jpeg

And so came spring but unfortunatly for me I had to attend to somerhing else than the garage in order to keep the peace, the yard and the patio. Needless to say it quickly turned out to be a huge project…1000sqft to be precise!D0D4C019-6637-4BAA-AE0C-C5F65D9EFDDB.jpeg4692E775-75A8-4CB6-9960-EA2D8FEEBE14.jpeg6865D362-0E0E-4A6C-AEBC-9497F61D7138.jpeg7554EEFD-007B-4EF7-9A7A-88A8848A42BA.jpeg4D3637B2-B520-4162-8829-FA4BBD567A8F.jpeg784BC055-E2B2-45FC-A9F8-0BE048E60123.jpegB2183BB8-6256-4C85-B475-304170F477D0.jpeg376896BD-92DB-4C4C-955D-981323A2F405.jpeg0140429B-8E09-40F4-9CB0-C0BC2D98BFB1.jpeg7E5ACDEF-76EA-485D-9440-E7D86A1EC126.jpeg

Wow nice work! That's a good looking design and build on the deck. House looks very nice and you did a great job on the upstairs.
What a bunch of work.:)
Thank you for sharing.

I really like that fireplace on the deck. was that something you fabricated yourself? Also it looks like there is something under it to prevent the deck from getting on fire. What is that?

Thank you, I actually got it for my birthday from my soon to be wife. It is constructed from 6mm hardened and heattreated metal and I fabricated a safeguard under it so it would not ignite the deck.

The original plans for the garage. It has since been altered and the roof and its angle increased to create a upstairs storage area.

First day of construction. Each segment is 1,2m wide and 2,5m high. The sections are then risen one by one and joined together supported by strands. This was quite a fast section to do actually since er measured and prepared everything in advance.

We lifted the beams by ourselves with no help from machines but in hindsight it would have been A lot easier… :)

…still we managed to put them up in one day! And with the supportframe in place we started work to get a roof over our heads.

The days are getting shorter up here and the nights longer which means the outside must be finished shortly.
